The walk cycle. I'm still working on the idea of how OliveMan should actually walk/run/move in any way. I want to make it more cartoony, and less "realistic". I am open to any suggestions/changes that can be made. Thank you.

A teacher of mine sat down with me, and showed me how a cartoony walk cycle works. Afterwards, I did it with OliveMan. There were SO many actions that never occured to me. Even the most ovious, like making the arms and hands swing a little, or rotating the entire body in the direction of the next step. If you have any more ideas/comments, follow up. Thank you.

Hi disensin,

It is looking good. Just one quick comment you may want to think about. When the arms come up in the front they look like the wrist is bending into that pose a little early. Maybe loosen it up more if you keep them pointing back the direction they are coming from a little longer. So they don't switch direction until the arm actually starts to swing back and takes them with it.

Thank you very much for your critique. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply, but I have several things going on (I'm graduating in March). I noticed what you said about the hands.
I tried what you said, and noticed an extra fix that looked interesting with the following: I kept the lag a little longer, but instead of the hands twisting back the moment the arm swings back, I twisted them the moment the arm stops moving, giving it a pendulum effect. How's that look?


Also, I created a Run Cycle for OliveMan. I tried to make this cartoony as well. I simply made a normal run cycle, and exaggerated everything. I look forward to any comments!
