I must be missing something hear, I just want the boulders to not be inside of each other! The scene file is Max2009.

Think you are better off using a reactor based sim. or TP or wait till box#2 comes out. Keep apart well works but not real well when try to cheat geometry physics. Actually seems to work better as an attractor when using -neg numbers.

You can try this plugin ( . It is a Gravity Spacewarp that makes the particles attract or repell each other.

Keep apart is just a force, if it's not strong enough it wont be able to keep particles apart. As the other people said, it's not the best solution. I would try increasing the force and add a drag to make them stop.

I forgot to plug an awesome physics, fracture, debris plugin that would really make this an easy task: RayFire (

Thanks for the tips. How would I go about making the particles appear to roll on the surface, so base their offset on the particle size?

I've tried a few things and i'm having luck with keep apart+drag, however at higher counts it falls apart a bit. I'll check out the reactor option. I should note that this is for the end result and not an animation (so that they look natural, as though they've fallen down the hill and settled there) so I don't really care about HOW they get there, as long as it looks natural.

In that case I would definately go with reactor.

Well Reactor has done a damn fine job of it. I might use pflow to then sprinkle little ones on top so they get in the cracks and so on. Thanks for the help!
