I just realized we're supposed to follow a certain format when creating a thread so we're starting a new one, and I'll be posting our work in progress here.

Here are some of the models I've done. I need to get Bruno to upload a new still of the opening shot to show where these appear. Anyway most of these models were done fairly quickly the boats in 2-3 days the crates and barrels were done in a few hours. I wish I had more time to go in and add more details. With the short time line of this project you have to budget your time, and not spend more time than necessary on any one model.

What is the background or story behind the sequence?

It seems a bit incongrous having the wooden crates and barrels next to the steel shipping containers and a castle in the background.

A background might clear this up a bit.

I'll let Bruno go into more detail on this since he came up with the story, but basically there is this tower that has been trapping boats for centuries.

This was the first texture for the cargo ship, which I went back and changed to the lighter blue one. This version may still get used to fill in the background.

Considering how many polys I see in the wireframe those are some great renders. Top notch work on the textures John.

Ya, in order to get everything I needed to done I figured from the start that I would let the textures carry as much of the load as possible. I only modeled enough to give them a good silhouette.

I still wish I could spend more time on these, but a deadline is a deadline.
Anyway I think anymore I do will be so slight that it would only be lost after
all the effects in the final comp are applied.

just checked out your final,nice work,very moody audio you have there..one thing missing though is all that lush blue coloring that was so apparent in the concepts.it's a shame you toned that down so much.
good to see it finished though,good luck! :thumbsup:
