View Full Version : moving joints in a tentacle-like fashion

I was wondering if anyone knew how to control geometry (cylinder) like a tentacle moving.

I have tried creating a simple skeleton of joints, an IK handle for these joints. Then I added a particle object by the IK handle and parented the IK handle to the particle. Then I tried applying fields to the particle, which moves, but the IK handle does not.

I thought this way would work, and would appreciate any thoughts or tips.

What you should try is creating a IK spine handle for the joints in the tentacle. Then select the curve in the IK spine and convert it to a soft body. Then you can apply your fields to the particles on the spine curve and it will move the joints.

Thanks, that definitely got me on the right track. Now I'm just experimenting with per particle attributes.
