Project Overview

Project Apple is the code name for a Collaborative Short Film to be produced by a team of talented 3D artist volunteers.

The purpose of this project is to produce a quality 3d animated short to showcase the skills of each member of the production team and enhance their marketability in this competitive industry. The film will recognize all participants and contributors so viewers know who was responsible for which task (concept art, modeling, animation, rendering, lighting, music, etc).

Copyright ownership of this short will reside with Artistikal, LLC. However, team members will be given the written approval to utilize this film for marketing purposes (portfolio, demo reels, etc). If commercial uses of this film by team members will also be considered and each opportunity will be addressed with the respective individual on a case by case basis.

In order to be recognized as a contributor to this film, individual team members must meet the following criteria:

- Complete all action items associated with the team memberís role in the production process.

- In the event an individual needs to abandon the project prior to completion, an advance written notice needs to be submitted to Artistikal. Recognition will be provided if the notice contains reasonable justification and the team member has completed a minimum of 50% of the action items associated with his/her role.

Description of Short Film:

Preliminary story line and character sketches have been developed by Artistikal, LLC.

The film is intended to be around 3 minutes long.

The film will appeal to both children and adults.

Characters and environments are of a cartoon genre, resembling Disney-Pixar quality but with the unique creative input of the artists.

Characters are two bugs with simple body animation and elaborate facial animation.

Most of the story will take place on a tree, in and around a red apple which is where the characters live.

We would like the film to have a little comedy, in addition to conveying a value related message that the audience can identify with and learn from.

Character sketches and more detailed story line will be provided to the production team members.

Maya will be the 3D software of choice.

wat r the schedule for project apple.

02 February 2009, 12:59 AM
We would like the project to be completed withing 3-6 months from the time the team of artists has been selected. An accurate schedule is difficult to predict because in a collaborative project, team members are volunteers, not dedicated full time to the project. They usually have full time jobs and/or paid commissions that take from their time. But those who volunteer usually have the passion and time management skills to produce a quality project that will give them exposure and enhance their portfolio.
