I need to cover this ball for a game trailer in a fine chain mail (male? meil?...) mesh material. Prob is, it needs to be geometry. Normal/bump/displacement won't do it. I've tried the paint effects method for that microphone a while back in the maya forum, I've tried lattices, which work OK, but distorts the mesh (thin donuts near the edges).
Any ideas on this one? Ive got Rhino 4 and Maya 2009 at my disposal.
