Sorry for the not so fantasic image, but a cool trick I picked up today from a thread in the Newtek Forum, that lets you seemlessly mix Subpatches an Faces

Is this done with subpatch weights or something? Do tell!

I guess (correct me if I'm wrong) that is has something to do with this? (

Either it's some variant of sub patch weighting or you copied and pasted the polys back in?

You can attach polys to subpatch edges that have a weight of 0%...pretty slick, actually!

I gt the tip from Carm at this thread

It's using Sub Patch Weights, you just select the Points and set the weight value to 100%. But take a look at the thread for better explaination and he also has a downloadable example.

I can't believe that for such a simple technique, this is the first I've ever seen of it! I'm really glad you pointed this out, riki...I would've missed out on a really handy technique otherwise.

The biggest problem I always had with subpatch weights was that it affected every edge connected to the can't select just a particular edge to weight. While this isn't exactly a fix to that problem, it is a pretty nice workaround that should come in REAL handy when doing mechanical objects, text, logos...oh, the possibilities... :bounce:

Yeah I was pretty excited as well. I was up messing about with it until about 3 am this morning. It just makes me wonder what else have we missed??
