Hey I really like it, it looks like a magical place. Only a couple of crits.

The lamp casting the yellow glow has no glow under it - kinda wierd to have an omni light like a lamp not cast any light downwards.

Also the doorway is lit up very brightly but I can't figure where the light is coming from, it can't be coming from the lamp (wrong side of the door) and can't be coming from inside the house 'cause its all dark???

Wow this is great...I like the ambience...Nightish eerie look.. Fantastic

06 June 2003, 03:22 PM
very nice

i really dig the atmosphere.

can u give some details about the post-process made in photoshop and AE ? i'm very interested by the "2D" touch u gave to the final image, can u tell us more about the filters/operations u applied to achieve the final result ?

06 June 2003, 03:41 PM

there is no light under the lamp because the lamps' base is casting a shadow - the door is lit by a light on the inside, you can see that the one visible window is lit - sometimes a light isn't strong enough to light up an entire room and besides, it works compositionally to draw our eye in - things don't always have to make perfect sense to work well

this is beautiful work!!

06 June 2003, 03:52 PM
With the exception of the above mentioned crits, this is a really good job, and you have done a real good job keeping the end product true to the concept. Congrats.

06 June 2003, 03:59 PM
Haha , cool swamp ! :bounce:

06 June 2003, 04:14 PM
This is a truly wonderful piece of work.

Looks and feels magical without becoming the hackneyed cliche that fantasy illustration so often becomes.

I have to say that I also don't entirely agree with the criticisms so far voiced in this context (although technically valid to some extent I don't think they are really applicable when taking into account the style and composition and the fact it isn't about photo-realism). This is, however, just an opinion.

This should be plugged, if it hasn't been already, on the front page.

Fantastic - a real inspiration.

P.S. I too would be interested in what was involved with compositing.

06 June 2003, 04:33 PM first glance I thought this was just a drawing. I love the look you were able to achieve. Are you able to pop an animated cam in this scene?

glintx & glintz
06 June 2003, 03:44 AM
ok,guys ,thankyou for your utterance all. :)

we did this pic in order to give voice to a nonphotoreal like .

we just want to incarnate a sense like drawing ,like magic ,or like fantasy world .. anyway ,:)

this is a fungus world , fungus living in forest ,living as room ,and them even living on the moon !! but , we rotate the moon for a little so in the pic , you can't see the fungus on it .hahaha .but in the sketching we make it .just a little scratchy :P

the floor is very wet biside the water .it like .like ..a swamp you can see somuch smoke and fog in the air .

06 June 2003, 04:13 AM
not bad

06 June 2003, 04:25 AM
That is superb :applause:

06 June 2003, 04:32 AM
This is amazing work. I'm highly impressed and inspired. The concept, the test, the final result, it's all done so beautifully. Thank you for showing this to the world.

06 June 2003, 04:49 AM
I see nothing

06 June 2003, 04:52 AM
I think it is fantastic. Front page material for sure. I also like the way the great concept has been translated into 3D. Too cool for school!!!!! :applause: :applause: :applause:  :applause:

06 June 2003, 04:57 AM
OMG:drool: that is great.when i first looked at it i though it was a painting but i read more and it was modeled. the textures are surpeb and the lighting is great to.

06 June 2003, 05:19 AM
i like these kinds of woks,

when i saw it i thought it made by maya,

06 June 2003, 05:22 AM
I like it.look like having a fantasy dream.

May i ask how do you use aftereffect for making picture.
I mean which effect do you use.or only use layer to finish that?

06 June 2003, 05:22 AM
i thought it was a painting as well till i saw the shaded renders. i'd love to see some of the textures you used. its got a great rich quality to it, gorgeous stuff

06 June 2003, 07:30 AM

06 June 2003, 07:33 AM
Waouw ! Spectacular ! :applause:

I first believed it was a digital painting... good work ! The shading excellent !

06 June 2003, 07:34 AM
Used Darktree eh? The newest release? Judging by your render, it works pretty darn well. Do you recommend it? I've though about checkin them out in the past. Seen some great materials created by it.

Nice work.

06 June 2003, 07:34 AM

06 June 2003, 07:45 AM

Thanx for the wire and renders..!

But I have a question:

the lamp has no light at the bottom cause its blocked off.
the door is bright cause theres light in the house look at the right side at the windows.
double check before you post critiques

still awesome work:beer:

06 June 2003, 08:50 AM
Just brilliant, nothing to crit here.

As mentioned: perfect 2D look from a 3D render, very impressive post-production.

Probably impossible to animate, I assume?

06 June 2003, 08:58 AM
Good design, good modeling, good lightning

06 June 2003, 08:59 AM

Wow that is amazing. I really like the lighting! It really has an awesome feel to it. Sorry you lost your harddisk though :(. With talent like that though, you should try to recreate it!

The only crit I would have is that the little carvern under the house, I think there should be just a little more contrast so it stands out just a little bit more. I didn't even notice it untill I saw the shaded renders.

06 June 2003, 09:06 AM
""but .we are very sorry to say : we have no more pic to show .because , after we done this scenes , we harddisk mangle by a sudden power cut . we lost all of our work at that machine. ""

Lovely sandcastle, more magic to the image!!

06 June 2003, 09:44 AM
Very nice, luvly ambiance:thumbsup:

glintx & glintz
06 June 2003, 09:45 AM
we use the max particle system to build the smoke or fog like atmosphere effect .. includ the smoke arround the room and the fog and starlike ...and .even the stars in the nightsky . we build it by particle cloud.

and the texture to the particle system are very important. we used the noise texture and a textures plugins named TEXTURE.LAB.ELEMENTAL.TOOLS to make the smokelike textures.

06 June 2003, 09:58 AM
nice! i would luv to see some small pics that fit in here of textures and UV-maps :)

I am very sad to hear that you lost all your files :(( - i am sure that you were indeed sad a long time - i have lost works of my own, i am sure that everyone has at one time or another

you can console yourself that, in a sense, your work is not all lost - you poured your heart and soul into this work and the universe gives back what you put into it - i truly believe this - you will go on to create more marvels and yet this one, the one you believe is lost to you, its memory will never leave you and will enrich everything you do

i wish you the very best

(i can't resist)
you're such a couple of fun guys

<smile now>

06 June 2003, 11:30 PM
