hi there,

i m using 3dsmax and render this picture in brazil rio. i m using a texture where i place a falloff into the diffuse slot. the upper part is a gradient ramp (black/white) the lower part is a raytrace object. i m also using a little bit of bump but you can't see it from that distance.

so the picture here is with the falloff as i wrote it here. the ring looks "good" for me :) like a sort of steel. i think you ll recognize the problem here, the upper part of the ring. if i switch the falloff (gradientramp down and raytrace up) the problem disappears but the ring looks like frozen carbondioxide... what do you guess? how do i clean this area up? it is lowpoly but i m using Edited Poly and there i try to smooth it with Iteration: 1 or 2, doesn't matter, always the same ...
