hi all, I am a new user to XSI from 3dmax. I notice it is so inconvinent to change view port in xsi since there isn't any shortcut for it. yea, i can set up shortup key myself, but there really isn't any convinent keys for me to set up. so my questions would be
1. What shortcut keys do you guys use for changing views? (i know F12, but i need a shortcut reference to change views instantly)
2. ctrl +D then move can use for extrude, do you guys usually use this for extrude? I notice I have to undo it Twice in order to not mess up the model.

I have Shift+Space mapped to "maximize/restore current viewport".
This works very well since I work in fullscreen mostly and don't need more than a total of 4 views usually.
I set up the 4 views to the cameras I need, then I can quickly toggle between the 4-view and maximized using Shift+Space. Not even a need to activate the new viewport, XSI uses the one that's under the mouse pointer.
2. Yep that's how it's done. The model isn't messed up by step 1 though, XSI only creates 4 zero-height polygons around a quad when you hit CtrlD

one thing you can do is try the "Qwerty and Alt Camera Navigation" interaction model, which is meant for users coming from Maya and Max. For example, spacebar maximize the current viewport, there are keys for shaded/wireframe, etc.

Thank you for shaing your tip. I just made Alt + T/F/R/D for top,front,right,camera view since these keys are not binding to any function. :)
How do i select these kind of points I dont need? if it is a complex model, i may not able to see the usless point, so i need a selection tool for them.

It's better of course not to take care not to produce them, but if you have any double points you can get rid of them with "polygon mesh.>filter points" with a very low distance setting.

I see. ty. it is weird xsi doesn't give an option for choosing left ,bottom,back view.

you can select back, bottom, etc, by clicking the "x","y","z" buttons in the viewports with left mouse button, middle mouse button (check the tooltip on those buttons)

awesome, i just tried middle mouse button on those xyz icons and other icons. Maya and 3dmax sections have their own tip thread. someone should really make a XSI tip thread, it will help alot for beginners.
