It took me a while to settle on an idea for this great challenge. I toyed around with Jekyll and Hyde, and actually started modeling some environments for it, when, I changed my mind and settled on the Loch Ness Monster. I'm going to approach it from a documentary type of video. We'll see what comes out. I'll be posting some WIP's very soon.

Here's my somewhat freakish start to the Loch Ness Monster. I've decided to go with a mixture of manufactured and organic build to the beast. So, steampunk elements will have plenty of play on and in the monster. More to come soon.

Cool Idea, Trey.

I've subscribed to this thread so I'll be by whenever you update your WIP.

Good luck in the challenge and I hope you have lots of fun.

Here is a rough model of the Loch Ness Monster body. I did the head model in XSI, and also the body base mesh. I did further sculpting in zBrush. My plan is to model all of the monster, and then place the man-made steampunk elements on the model later. More to come soon...

Hey I appreciate the encouragement guys. The truth is, I've had zBrush for all of 6 days. I've actually got the trial version right now. I'm seriously contemplating buying it, becuase it is quickly becoming an essential tool for the serious modeler. I've been very busy with my full time job as an editor/compositor, so I havn't had much time to work on my steampunk entry. But, the holidays are upon us, and, hopefully now, I'll be able to work on it more. I've got lots of ideas about how this video is going to be laid out. Hopefully some storyboards and live action shots will be posted up soon. This bad boy is going to be in HD!
