Plot is of a cheesy summer blockbuster type movie ad
It is based around the Hercules greek legend. I won't explain the story any more as it's well documented.
The image in my head is as follows:
(fade from black)
dimly lit tapestry by dancing flame light
the camera pans slowly across it. Stylistic greek art shows the twelve labours of Hercules, gradually shown through the video.
First tapestry drawing shows an infant in its cot with two dead snakes in its hands. Voiceover begins (text will appear below at some stage). Next we pan along the tapestry to a muscular man carrying weapons. There is no indication yet of the steampunk theme.
(face quickly to black then into next shot)
a close up of a relaxed hand. The camera lingers for a few seconds before the hand clenches into a fist.
(fade quickly to black then tapestry)
we see more pictures of an increasingly muscular and older Hercules
(fade to black then back to the hand)
the camera slowly drifts up the arm, spiralling. The arm is muscular and we start to see that it is augmented by brass and leather, then pistons. The rest of the body is too blurred to see detail.
(back to tapestry, showing Hercules fighting the Nemean lion)
(back to top of the arm. The camera rushes out to show the head of Hercules. The head is between huge jaws. As we come further out we see that the lion's pelt and head are being worn as a helmet / cloak. We can see he is covered in mechanical augmentation. The shot is intimidating and he exudes power.
(back to tapestry, showing more labours. We see Hercules on a conventional Pegasus )
(quickly fade to black then back to a rapidly moving action shot with shaky camera showing legs running (initially zoomed in on thighs, then comes back out) with steam pistons working to help the rapid run. Then the legs jump and there is a brief calm as the camera lingers on the ground where the feet took off from and the sound quietens as the loud footfalls are no longer heard. Camera pans quickly to show Hercules landing on an entirely mechanical Pegasus (think the owl in Clash of the Titans but a flying horse instead - brass, cogs, staring glass eyes) which rears up.
(tapestry shows Hercules fighting the Hydra)
brief action shot showing a tiny Hercules beside a monstrous mechanical Hydra. The camera lingers for just long enough for the viewer to realise the scale of the Hydra and to think there can be no chance.
(movie style credits - producer / director etc), MPAA certification screen)
breif comic relief scene at the end - the camera shows the earth, zooms out to see it is encased in a forcefield which rests atop a pillar. the camera flies down the pillar at breakneck speed to stop on a hunched, muscular Atlas at the bottom. He cocks his head at Hercules and asks,
"could you hold this for just a moment, please?"
Just to start I can say there is absolutely no way I am going to achieve anything like what there is in my head. I've been using blender for a few months now and simlpy don't have the skills or the time to do what I would need to. I just want to give it a go. So if you are offering criticism... please do! I'll take on board anything offered but I doubt I'll have the time to fix anything! Or finish. I'll be overjoyed if I can submit a finished entry that has blocky cube models as long as the spirit of it shows through.

great goals are the oil in the creative machine. So go for it. But maybe you should concentrate on one great picture as to make an animation with 5000
mediocre frames :)
As far as i do understand your ideas ( my english is really bad :D) you have enough material for a great entry in the image section of this challenge.

Currently doing an arm model for first shot but not sure if I should just jack that and do the whole Hercules figure and zoom in on it. While trying to decide I've been doing some work on Pegasus, who will eventually have some pistons controlling back legs, cogs for front, wings, and probably a few motorbike parts for the rider to sit on.

Unfortunately life continues to get in the way - busy home, work and had to get out and oil the deck as we are hosting Christmas this year and it's well overdue a tidy-up.
Should hopefully get Pegasus mostly done in the next 3-4 days then I need a full Hercules and a hydra

Pegasus continues to get more metalwork. Still to add:
more decorative stuff
footplate for rider
engine (won't be too visible though, bulging out from below thorax)
pipes to pistons

Not much added. Hopefully finish this off tonight if I have time. I have decided to make Hercules an entirely mechanical object rather than a man with armour, mostly due to animating ease.

Wooo! Shiny horse! The only way this could be cooler is if steam comes out of his butt!
Just wanted to comment on the proportions to me something looks a little off, I don't know horses very well but maybe his neck is too long, or legs too short... Or it could look perfectly normal once the head is in place...
Can't wait to see Hercules!

You can't see it too well in these renders but his tail is a dirty exhaust pipe. Smoke, probably not steam.
The neck is probably too long but I'll see how short to make it once I do the head.
Been a bit busy last few days with real life so not much progress I'm afraid.

Been doing a little bit of Hercules. I figured that I might run into problems if I spend all my time on one model and never get to the end, so I'm going to move on and at least have some animatable assets at least 20 days before the end of the challenge (never done this before, so that seems like a lot of time to me).
I'll wrap up Hercules and Pegasus within the next 15 days, then the other models in the following 20 days, then backgrounds and paintings for tapestry in the gap before I need to start animating and rendering.

Yes, I know it's slow. Family commitments continue to be the main focus, as they should be! I'm really just about done with this character though. I'd love to put in some extra detail but I just don't have the time or the ability. Maybe next challenge.

I'd love to do more, but I need to get moving on the other characters and rig and animate and backgrounds and whatever else.
So I'll stop here with this one.
