Latest Update: Work In Progress: The Kraken model version 1

Greetings. Full disclosure: I'm not now, nor have I ever been, a graphic artist. I'm a 63-year-old nuclear physicist who likes to create animations. I just bought cinema4D, started playing with modelling and so.... here I am with The Concept:
An animated visualization of "The Kraken Wakes". Poem by Tennyson, book by John Wyndham. I read the book 50 years ago and it blew me away. I've made a first sketch, although in this REPLY dialog box, I can't see how to attach..... There will be an extra tail segment of the body, I think.
Looking forward to lots of fun....

Here's my idea for the Kraken: a pleisiosaur-like beast.

Here's version 1 of the Kraken model. I wanted to avoid the cliche of a dragon's head, so I opted for a snake-like shape. However, it looks too plain. Any suggestions for improvement will be gratefully received.

Hey David looks like a good start.
Your concept looks pritty good. One thing I would possibly say about your model is that it looks a little simple like you said. I would suggest to make the main body a little more interesting than just a cylinder. Maybe make it come out more to give it the appearance of a chest and then as it gets closer to the tail make it come in more.
Just a suggestion, but it looks good so far

You have the distinction of being the first to comment on my first challenge entry! Many thanks for that!
My original thought about the body was to make it like a boiler (i.e. steam-related). However, I will explore your suggestion of tapering. This gives me options I hadn't thought of.
Again, I appreciate your suggestion.

Yeah I get the idea of a boiler but it doesn't mean that it has to be just a cylinder. Just thought that tapering it would give it a little more of feel like a creature.

wow! really cool model. I like that a lot!

thanks for the nice words. I will be trying to implement the suggestion that I taper the body.
