Time for a little update. First of all, I'm really glad that my friends Tayfun and NinjaUA at last joined the team.
Each one of us will do his own part of work. Tayfun - Camera, Animation, Storybording; Ninja - concept art, texturing, storybording; and I will do modeling, lighting, rendering, and composing + making some effects like fog and fire.
After a brainstorming ideas we came up to some vision of overall look, story and appearance of the main characters. And so Ninja made some quick sketches:

First quick Perseus sketch. That was made really fast, and as you see it lacks small details and coloring. We just wanted to study overall look and build of Perseus and his steampunk armor.

After face studies, we decided to think out Perseus steam armor detailed look. We tryed diffrent ideas and approaches, and here a some of them.

very nice enter I liked the Perseus design very much and love the fact that you guys picked a myth from Greek mythology! Very nice! I am doing Hercules so we are doing similar things that will surely be interpreted and designed in a very different manner! I am very interested in following up your thread! Great work so far :thumbsup:

Tnx for comment Scied. We too saw your challenge entry, you have some very cool story there. :) At some point we even thought that a lot of people will enter the challenge with some Greek mythology on their mind, coz it's so rich on different stories. But luckily there is only two of us with Greek myths based scenarios in the video challenge now. :)

Our concept artist, picked one of the recent armor designs and started to sharpen some lines and adding some color to it. But personally I think that initial design of that armor is still looking rather sci-fi then steampunk.

I do agree with your comment about it looking to sci-fi though. I've been having a similar problem with my concepts as well. I think the two can be very similar sometimes.

Maaan I wish I could draw and design like that! Awesome work there! The only coment would be that it is very high-tech/ symmetrical/ futuristic like mecha for my taste... but again its only my taste :shrug:

Yeah, exactly my thoughts. :)

As TaYfun already said, big tnx for engravings idea:bowdown:, it will surely make suit more steampunk'ish. I think we will definitely add them.

In parallel with working out of the characters, we develop a scene environment. To soon your attention we will give environment elements. We already have gradually started to model an environment and we will soon give our first results. History which we wish to tell in process and we hope that in the near future we can show you ours storyboard.

While our concept artist, working on character sketches, Tayfun created some gears, steam engines, bolts and other steampunk elements to detail our environment.

Our concept artist re-worked Perseus armor a little bit in order to make forms more round and steampunk'ish. Plus we are also searching for the shield look and form.

Also love your concepts for the characters. Is this final colours? Might be cool to mix in some coppery kinda materials in there

Tnx, we will try our best to make steam engines look realistic. And about colors, well our concept artists just tried, to play with colors a little bit to add some depth to the image, so I think that colors would certainly change during texturing process.

Very nice concept. I liked the way the steam was coming out from the suit in the earlier concept though.

Staszek: Tnx dude, I hope that we will be able to show story board only in the middle or end of the next week. Have nothing to show right now, everything is still in our heads.

Here is our first studies of Gorgon Medusa look, and build. As you can see we wanted to step away from traditional Greek Medusa, and give our Medusa enormous steampunk monstrosity look. Something big and scary.

Some very cool designs, you're obviously going in a much more hi-tech design with your medusa then we are. Should be a fun way to compare and contrast similar stories with very different style. Best of luck to your team!

First part of our storyboard:
1) We see some frozen figures in different poses.
2) In the end of the corridor we see some light.
3) It's Perseus with some mechanical torch like lamp.
4-5) Perseus walking though the corridor, looking around, he is frightened, there is a cold scary atmosphere in there.
6) Through the corridor he gets to a big hall of epic proportions.

First of all thx :)

And yeah, there will be a couple of zoom ins in our movie, actually in the first part of our storyboard you can see that we are zooming in from the second shot to the third. Arrows on the each of the storyboard shots, shows how camera will move. But of course the camera movement and position can change when we will set it up scenes in MAX.

So, here is Perseus WIP model. It's almost finished, only lacks textures and small detail, witch I plan to do in mudbox, later this week.

Here is second part of our storyboard. Perseus finds an old mechanism of some sort and activates it with a key.
