Well first time I submit something through this system so I hope I get it right.
Anyway this is a little fast 3D concept of my idea, there are alot of myths around carousels so I thought I would try make a steampunk variation. Which I hope will be a intresting mix between machine and "character"'s ..well atleast steampunk carousel horses.

Nice design and modeling so far. How are you planning on tying it all together with the "Myths and Legends" part of the contest? You mentioned losts of myths around carousels, but I can't come up with a single one. Which myth are you thinking of? Good luck!

Good modelling and fine details, the materials also very nice.
I also don't know any legend with carousels. Can you write your idea?

Maybe that's the myth....that there are lots of myths about carousels? :D
I really love the black and white concept photo, lovely delineation of all the shapes...

Thanks all =)
A little about the myth/legend, often carousels in atleast the early years had one or several myths and or legends build into the machine, meaning the animals you rode, and art work around the machine was dedicated to a certain legend (or several), so the idea is to build the legend into the machine.
Usually there is 1 or 2 myths "attached" to each machine such as a certain horse was orderd by..made by..etc, or mystical extra horses was made but never used etc, these however seems harder to visualize but I will try to build something like this into the machine to, more as a hidden thing however.
Hope it clarifies things =)

I have never heard of this before... maybe it is more of a regional or local myth? (doesn't mean I don't believe you, simply means I've never heard of it, just in case) I would think kids would be kinda scared to ride a carousel that had some legend or myth attached to it. Nice modeling so far.

i know one story about cursed carousel. I watched on tv quite some time ago so i'm sorry if i'll accidently made some things up.
The place was U.s. it was in late 19 century or at the beggining of 20. one man and his friend bought an carousel(which was said to be "cursed") and completely restored it so it was functional and they started their own mini-circus bussiness with this carousel, until an accident, when the carousel wouldn't stop spinning and some person died in accident. After the death the man who bought the carousel putted it back to pieces and stored it in his basemant. Then quite some time passed and his son came up with idea to bring the carousel back to life(he like his father first didn't care about curse). When he was putting pieces of carousel back together some strange thing happend with carousel and the friend of a father(the man from the beggining) warned him about the curse and advised him to keep
it in basement. However the son... wouldn't listen to him and when he finally finished with restoring the carousel he got up on the horse and had a ride, while he was riding he put his hand to the mouth of the carousel horse, but he couldn't pull it back and then he suddenly died...
(after that i remember even less, but was something about that friend of his father who came to the place of death and the girlfriend of a son). After it was said that he died of a poisonous snake bite. Some speculations were that the snake hid in the carousel during the winter because it was warm inside. Anyway i don't know how much of a truth is in the story so..we can call it a myth =) (maybe some information as i said at the beggining aren't true because of my memory)
oh, you've got good modeling skills and your materials are awesome. :)
