Ok here its is where I'm going. It's hard to visualize on sketch how final look will look like, but I have pretty clear image in my mind ;)
There will be heavy scene in character count as I'm starting to think, but Ill give it a shot, so many things I want to show....
Legend : There was a Kingdom, of human race, where were build unseen machinery and technology used for themselves only. Everything was kept in a very secret, nothing left the kingdom walls.
The dark forces wanted to break in and steal their creations, to rule powerful machines. Unfortunately one day the walls have fallen, of a constant dark force attacks. The kingdom was crushed to dust, every single ruler of it was violently killed. But princess with little newborn has escaped, with hope to rise the one who will bring the Kingdom back. But she was trapped with her bodyguard machine, and her child, not far from the fallen kingdom...on the hill. There was a huge gunfight, till last hope showed up - the ship of survivors, who will try to save the little prince at any cost... ;)
Badly : this sketch dont show any design, juts placeholders and poses... design will show up in a progress...

Very nice design of the creature. I think it would be better if you add some muscles on the middle part of leg. And a little more fat on his stomach would be better to I think. As allways it's only my opinion :)

Before you work more on this I must remind you that it must be based on a genuine myth or legend. Not one you've created yourself.
Looks interesting though.
