Hi all!

Just seen it was a new challenge! Welcome back to the fun!!

I can't wait and i love the new theme! Definitly want to do something with a train... already draw the concept, just I have to scan it. Hope this time i will have time to finish.... :/

Good luck to all, and have fun!!

Here is my first concept, sorry for the bad picture, just my phone to took it. So it a custom-steam-machine-train riding the suspended rail, in the middle of a foggy city, at full speed, trying to enter the "no trepassing" zone... On the body of the loco, a young crazy guy, and driving the train, a robot, at least as crazy as the guy...

All critics are welcome!!

Hi all, here is the 3d base concept. Just to place my objects... really simple but will help me to go on. Not sure about the camera view right now... Will still play with it...

any crits are welcome!

Hi all,

got a free day, so I used it to modelise as much as i can, so after one white night and a loooong day on max, here comes my loco, still not finished of course... must add more "steamed" stuff, tube and thing like that, but i will have to review the place for the robot! hahaha, any crits are welcome!

Here is the train put in the scene, i had to scale my character down a little bit so my train doesn't look too small... now i have to find a place for the robot.... ^^

you are already on the run !
excellent design of the loco, by the way, with a kind of elfic feeling.

A great start !

Hey there:wavey: ,

pointless to wish you a good start, you're already running:D !
Modeling looks great, and I like the concept, missing the myth and legend-link though...

Good luck for you!

11-13-2008, 06:35 PM
good start and keep posting

11-13-2008, 06:50 PM
Nice, my only fear is that scene doesn't refer to any known Myth or legend...

11-13-2008, 06:58 PM
u have started with good one,i believe u will come up with a good composition

11-13-2008, 11:30 PM
Hi SuperXCM, Gald to see you once again take part to the challenge. Damn you already jumped in your 3d app :scream: You're off to a great start man, looks really cool, very dynamic ! But as Gpepper , i'm not sure to see what's the myth/Legend behind your image ...

Hi All

thanks for the replies!

Not really no - there's no way we could tell if you'd picked an actual story, or made one up yourself, this is just a guideline of the mood we're after, rather than just a plain 'steampunk' challenge.

So for the legend, as salmonmoose said, we don't have to use a "official" myth & legend, and for me, (I'm still writing on the story-), it will be something about a young guy riding his dragon to enter in a forbiden place...(*Neverendings story* type). Let me finish my loco and you will understand better:D

Today busy day at work, but I started the wagon and go on with the loco tuned part. Hope to post tonight!

hey simone! good luck with the challenge .

..when are we gonna see you back in SG?

Basicaly are we restricted to actual known myths/legends?

The FAQ thread has been updated. Unfortunately, from what I've read there, it must be based on a known myth/legend/fable.

Wow, nice start and quick work. I love the train design and I'm a sucker for action scenes :D. Really looking forward to this one. Good luck

Hi all!

Long WE at work... so no update... damn... hope to finish the wagon soon...and update that.

chilombiano -> Hi Daniel!! Thanks, do you enter in this one? would be great! I don't know when I can make it to S'pore, but i really want to... Maybe beginning of next year...

Fabio Doná -> Hi, omg, thanks for the tips... I have to change some stuff then to fit with a myth... i should make some research about that...damn :( Thank you very much!

ace4016 -> Thanks!! I hope to update soon, but finally I have to find a way to use a myth, maybe change my concept...

11-16-2008, 09:09 AM
Seems that we can use Chinese mythology, and one in particular fit my picture...

哪吒闹海 - na zha nao hai - na zha beat the dragon ...

Story of a boy who have to ride a dragon to beat him... just have to change a little my concept....

Hi all!

As i can feel that my image will not fit correctly and as I've already do some modeling, I will keep this idea for my next personal work (when i will have time!). So here is my new concept, using the same legend, here is the heros jumping and fighting the Dragon in the middle of the sea... not sure about the POV right now... but i will go on with the modeling and see how it fit!! I really want that we feel the difference of the size between them.

Any crits are welcome!

PS: The dragon will be the big cylinder:D

11-17-2008, 08:50 PM
Ow, too bad your previous work didn't work out for you, I quite liked it. Anyway, wondering how your current image will work out. Good luck!

11-17-2008, 10:49 PM
Well... it's the same thing... a train or a dragon... same shape

seriously, maybe the dragon don't have enough dof... he seem really on the same plan...
but I'm okay with you, not easy to already image the good position... you must start and only after give hime the good and natural position.

Whoa! nice progress Mr Lombardo, and nice to see u again! i wish u tons of fun and luck :D

Hey Simone nice to see ya in this challenge. I like both concepts. I liked the previous one more:) . Size and proportions looks okay to me in your new concept.
All the best:thumbsup:
