Here is a test sequence.

There is a weird horizontal moving "scanline" towards the second half of the render. does anyone know what is causing that anomaly? I have been pondering about this and the best correlation i can find is the particle emitter bounding box shrinking with the particle volume. Somehow this bounding box affects the fluid render???

Also I ran into another issue. Take a look at these two renders, the first is rendered in maya using mental ray:

and this one is rendered with maya batch, note taht the debris is now the "hot" version. I am making the debris with instances, using two instances a "HOT" incandescent copy and "COLD" diffuse copy. I switch between them with mel script but for some reason it seems that the indexPP doesnt get updated when batch rendering:

so is this a bug? or am i using the wrong PP attribute and indexPP simply doesnt get checked by MR when batch rendering? (i tried rendering with and without cache). If so maybe its fixed in 2009?

thanks for any help, also i have a new version with faster moving debris that has less damping applied so it doesnt slow down as much but I would appeciate more tips to improve this.

Sweet, I managed to fix the horizontal scanline but still have to figure out the debris pieces. but i think i have an idea.
