View Full Version : Modeling help -- symmetrical shapes, ring

Hello there. I'm having quite a challenge trying to model a simple, symmetrical shape like the center of a diamond ring. (see attached photo for an example of what I'm trying to do.)

I'm really a noob when it comes to modeling. The part I'm having trouble with is the star-like shape that holds the diamond. In particular, how these "legs" are all joined together along the bottom. I'm thinking there must be a way to do this as one element, as opposed to shaping the legs and then joining them. It's almost like there is an arch that joins the legs.

I think this part needs to be made of one primitive, right?---as opposed to 6 separate cubes.

Any help would be appreciated.
