Hi there!

I did this little picture for a workshop for the great french site 3dstation ( . The subject is: hangings (not sure about the word being correct).

Here is what I came with after 3 hours in maya. Comments and suggestion about what could be changed/could be added are welcome...

screenshots on my site if some of you are interested...

Well, if you will post on a Saturday :p

I like it, it works well with the sense of some unseen drama in the background. Also has a nice light airy feel to it, like it's midsummer and (I'm imagining) all the french doors are open.

The framing is also good and largely draws your eyes to the silhouette, especially since the eye is lazy and tends towards the lighter/brighter areas of an image.

Asides from this it also reminds me of De Beers adverts :scream:

Only two crits. For some reason (it's probaby just me) I'm not entirely comfortable with the minimal visual space between the hanging drapery and the top of the silhouette's head. Also, the drapery near the 'lense' (especially to the right) needs to be blurred as the detail can draw the viewer (voyeur?) away from the main attraction.

Lets's see it again with the other of Nico's drawings for comparison :applause:
Good work my friend :bounce:

I strongly consider to buy maya! Just look at that. (The tool doesn't create the artist, though).

It makes me think about ghosts. Not sure why..:surprised

Keep it up!

Hey toce! I like it. Maybe add some subtle touches of colour to it. For example, a slight blue tone to the shadows and a yellow/orange/pinkish tint to the light. Also, try and blur the textures near the camera. Or remove them completely... I think it would be better with smooth hangings :)

Keep us posted

You still got some funky artifacting on the hanings... Why not remove the texture altogether? I can't see why it's needed... Would look nicer with a satin/velvet-y look
