View Full Version : Mathsy, Techy Animation anyone?

I'm after a bit of guidance.. i am looking into relationships between maths and nature for a music video (and also my first real job)... apart from 'faking' the kind of results i'm after in after effects etc, i was wondering where to start with actually generating such visuals from equations and coding in a 2d or 3d package.. i know very little about programming...

Think of perhaps an animated spirograph image perhaps...

if you are familiar with vector calculus, the math associated with Electromagnetics, both statics & dynamics, is quite beautiful. e.g. deriving Snell's law from Maxwell's equations, something we had to to for an electro-dynamics class i took.

if you can render in 3D + time what physics & engineering students used to draw on huge pieces of paper, i know that would get the attention of many in the engineering & physics world.

for example, different modes of an wave progressing through a waveguide.

of course, there are software tools for a lot of this visualization, so it already exists. but a fresh approach is always good.
