How many joints would you use for the neck? We have 3 in the Joint Factory, but I'm wondering if 1 would be enough. How many do you use and for what kind of character? Do you use a different number of joints for the deforamation rig and the animation rig?

hmm id say it depends on the character, and the actions taking place... but yeah suggest 1 can work, but 3 usually is better for more expression. unless the character is a snake.. then it'll have a few more :P
if you observe a person for a while you get an idea of how flexible their neck is and how much their head moves around. some people seem to just rotate their head..
take a look in the mirror and see how much you can move your head around. i find this is the best way to figure anything out.
