Late entry. This is my first challenge here as well as my first time posting art here. I only found the forum maybe two months ago. This sounds exciting so I thought I'd try it. I'll start working on sketches today.

Welcome to cgtalk and good luck in your first challenge!

Thanks for the welcome wildsheepchase.
Here are some portraits to start off with. Just trying to get an idea for the character right now. Some kind of witch magic user. The game style for this would be rpg, maybe action rpg. Next I'll be working on her costume and the actual scene after that.

wow, those are really nice! keep it up!

Here's what I came up with for a costume design. Now to work on the scene maybe?

Here is a sketch update of the pose she will be in for the scene. Now I've gotta do a background.
I like the pose a lot, I checked out your site and you have some good colors there. So I will look forward to seeing what you can do here. Welcome to CGTALK btw.

I really like the pose in your last sketch. The character concept is really great as well. The detail on her staff is quite nice. Keep up the good work:thumbsup:

Awesome! ...what's going to be in her right hand?

I hope you settle on something soon Turokess. I was looking through your site and was really impressed with your painting. beautiful work. So I wanna see her getting fleshed out soon.
P.S. that sculture of Nicolas is insane!

Thanks you all!
Gamoron, I have been working on it most of the day today. It took me try after try to settle on something. I'm still not totally happy with what I've come up with, just a non-descript background, but I'll leave it for now. At the moment I'm very roughly putting color on it. I'll have an update when it is a little more clear. Thanks for giving my site a look. :)

Hi again. Here is how the coloring is coming along. There is going to be another glowing blue-green ball in her other hand, and I haven't done the glow on her skin yet. Right now I'm questioning her proportions. She still looks a little squat to me, even though I've already lengthened her torso once. Maybe it's her leg? Anyone else see it? Maybe I will see the problem in the morning.

Nice work. Completely opposite of how i thought it would turn out. I was expecting good not evil. Or is she good. Either way pleasant surprise.

It's about done now. I need to give it a rest before I decide if there is any more I should do to it. Right now the red in the bottom of her cape is bugging me a little. It might be too bright. I'll need to look at it tomorrow. I'd love to know what people think so far and if there is more I should do to it.
To answer Gamoron, she is good, but in a dark kind of way. Kind of like the anti-hero, hehe. She's charging up her magic a little more by drawing it into her hand.

hey, looks good
but i guess the magical light will affect the light on her face more brighter..or is she is the one > dark angle!??

I did a little editing on the last upload. I fixed her hand holding the staff. It looks a little more natural now. Shaangfx, I pushed the highlights a little more on her face. I was afraid of overdoing them and I didn't want to lose too much detail in her face.

Looks great. I agree about the red though. It seems like it isn't really being affected by the blue green light. Wouldn't it be more of a neutral red? Which it actually looks like you've already got. I suck with colour.

One final update before the deadline (I stopped working on this for a while). I just added some pizzazz to her. Gave her more feathers and stuff, put some silver decoration on her cloak, little things here and there.
I hope the image is not too dark for everyone. It shows up a little brighter in Photoshop than in the browser.
So, here she is again.

I love it! Great job!

Hey there, it looks great, however, I thought I would jump in and tell you she looks like a midgit. Since we can barely see her back leg, and her closest leg to us is so dark that it looks like it's behind the rocks or at ground level while the rock bench edge appears at times to be the floor (hope that made sense) . . .
Perhaps just lightening up her closest leg to us (mostly between her knee and foot) would fix everything. Otherwsie, fantastic piece:thumbsup:

That is beautiful, surreal and a really in-depth looking piece of work.Very nice.
