View Full Version : 2D Illustrator needed for Board/Computer Game

I guess I should introduce myself - I'm a 22 year old Graphic/Interactive Designer based in Seattle.

Here's an overview of the project:
I am looking for an illustrator for a game (or more than one if they don't mind working together). This project is collaborative and will potentially involve a team of people in the future, but all the artwork and production will go through me. I don't want to deceive anyone into thinking they will be paid for this (at first). Basically what I am trying to do is assemble a group of people who can provide me with the skills necessary to build a fantasy-based board game. This game will be playable on the internet via flash in its first, most basic iteration. If the artist and people I am working with are interested and skilled enough to want to see this project through, the idea may eventually be pitched to major game publishers and branched off into a physical board game or even a trading card game. Regardless, credit for whatever is accomplished will be given to the artist and they are free to use the game as part of their portfolio.

Detail about the position:
This artist must be proficient (and heavily interested in) 2D fantasy art and sketches. At first the interaction with me will be more conceptual, refining the game and discussing the intricacies of how its is played to maximize fun and replayability. This means the artist will have a rather large say in how the game turns out - particularly how it looks. Similar visual styles of the GENERAL look of the game would be comparable to Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft, Warhammer 40K, etc. The difference being that this game will be a bit more dark, more exaggerated (more adult themes and scarier characters), more abstract and artistic, and more of a "sketched" look. This person must be enthusiastic about this project and want to see it be finished!
Here are some examples of the visual style I am looking for:

The game itself will be discussed in more detail privately, so please PM or IM me and send me some samples of your work.

Thank you!
