View Full Version : Beast Car Throw

Hey guys, here's something I'm working on, its sort of a weight exercise primarily but i though I'd do something a bit different to the old box lift. Theres sound in it also (even though its only in the blocking stage, but its a key point, and also it becomes quite annoying after a while!). Let me know what u all think! Cheers!

So I'm back with another update at last, I've been working on trying to get the creatures center of mass and the illusion of weight in the scene right, so what I'm showing you is a hovering blob. This is just so I can get to the core of it all and don't have the limbs to distract me ( A cool tip I picked up from Shawn Kelly's Animation Tips N Tricks, which I'm sure you've all read!) Anyhow...if anyone could be awsome enough to drop me some feedback...that would be ace!

There doesn't feel like theres a lot of rotation in the root/pelvis, it feels like the upper body is driving most of the moves and not the lower. Also the pose around 4 seconds is very symmetrical and facing straight at the camera which makes it hard to read

Hey Kyle, thanks for the feedback, you always give good, clear, honest crits and I thank you for that!
The reason that there doesn't seem to be much rotation is because on closer inspection,I have neglected the pelvis control :surprised (the rotations) so thats probably why!(I can't believe i didn't notice this!) And yeah I agree with the pose, I always felt a bit off about it so i'll try and make it a bit more dynamic!
If there's anything else you (or anyone else) can see it would be much appreciated if you could again fill me in!

The car is feeling a little light when he is lifting it. He lifts up the car, and that is feeling pretty good, but after that, the car needs to push back down on him. You have this happening slightly around the 11 sec mark, but you need to have the car push down on him much more and with quicker timing, then he can collect him self, push it farther up and finally throw it. Remember that this is a battle between two opposing forces, the beast wants to lift this car in the air and the car wants to fall back down to the ground. Hopes this makes sense

Hey again Kyle! Yeah I totally understand what your saying and thanks again for takin the time to check it out :)
Well I've given the piece another pass, correcting anything i could see and anything others have suggested so once again if you see anything drop me a line!
