centered = bad
rule of thirds or off-center = good

Just to comment on what stroker said.... although I agree with what he said in this case, he is wrong to lay down a rule like that is such simple terms. The rule of thirds, really should never be taken as a rule... its more of a priniciple that more often than not seems to work. You can also disregard it if you actually want to center your main focus, which certainly happens in a lot of cases.. eg for websites with overhead naivgation bars, the design is usually close to centered and symetrical. However, like I said before... in your pic the way the main focus is so closely centered, tends to make it a bit boring and the composition just doesn't quite look right. Try something a little different. I hope that helps.
