I know that under the display menu you can see the number of faces per object. Does anyone know if there's a way to see the number of triangles on your model?

The display should show you both. There is the one on the left that shows the number of faces on the screen, it changes if you zoom in to a smaller position of your character or if you hide some objects. The # on the right side sholud be the # of polys that are selected. So if you are in the normal selection mode, it should tell you the total polys selected.

(Of course, you must have all of your faces as Triangles for this to work correctly.)

There is a HUD mel script in the A|W Bonus Games Pack that shows the triangle count regardless of whether your shape has quads and/or triangles. Very handy.
