hi everybody,

i'm working on a project based on the game of "WIPEOUT", the futuristic game race...
so i've allready done the ship ans some elements of the background and now i'm working on some effects, and i would like to do the energy of the reactor like in the game and the trail behind him, here is some exemple (love the first exemple...) and the link in the wip 3D section to see how it looks: ( (

what is the best solution to do that, particules or fluids, or simply object with some alpha, incandescence, glow textures etc...?
i would like to use fluids but i have some problems to control them, principally for the time of emission of it, and with the bouncing on the box....and i have to think that the ship move realy really fast..

I would use an animated texture. Something along the lines of this, a ramp for the transpance (mess around with the U and V placement). A 2d water/fractile for the color, use that to animate the effects(don't worry about color). Then another ramp on incandence for color of the effect, make sure one of the color values(HSV/ the V) is higher then 1 to get a decent glow.

ok dude i made the energy with your suggestion and i'm happy to see that works perfecly, i'll work it anymore but for this time it's ok i know that i have the support for working...

no have used a tube to put the texture on, and a second smaller for intensify and diversify the effect with a other color, as you can see: (
