View Full Version : Texture moving when animating

07 July 2008, 09:29 AM
Hi, I am using 3ds max 9 for a uni project

Im animating a worm like creature, problem is when i move it and render a short scene, when it moves the texture moves and almost looks like it bubbles.

How can i get the texture to stay on the model and move with the model

Why is it doing this?

What can be done to fix it?

Thanks alot

if u r using a bitmap, check its coordinates set to texture not environment in the bitmap rollout of the diffuse slot. hope this helps.

Yep its set to texture so its not that

Thanks for your help anyways

Anyone know what it could be?

is it a procedural texture? also do you have any uwmap modifier on top of your skin in the stack?

yep it is, no my uvw map is the first thing i did, i moved it to the top of the stack but that made no difference.

I think it may be something to do with the displacement but im not sure what?

that's the problem then, ur texture is a procedural one, all procedural maps stay "fixed in the world" if that makes any sense, so if you deform the object, the map won't follow, it will stay where it was, you have to specify in the map options to use the texture mapping instead of object/wolrd space... Also the UVmap must be placed BELOW the deformations ( such as skin, morph etc...)

I had the same problem long time ago, I don't remember why it was moving, but everything was fine when I started to use UVW Unwrap modifier and unwrapped model manually.
