somebody pls help with my doubt. when u model something like say a bottle closed with its cork,do i have to make the bottle and cork out of a singlepoly object i.e make it a single mesh or can i model the cork and bottle seperatly and then place the cork in the bottle and go to mesh-->combine them? will i have unwrapping or any other problems if i do it this way?

Easiest way model a bottle and a cork, that way you can render up a stoppered or open bottle.
Also easier to uv map as seperate objects
