View Full Version : nCloth can crush

Hopefully someone can point out why I can't get this can to be both rigid enough to withstand gravity, but flexible enough to be crushed, then remain crushed. I've tweaked every value I could think, but nothing.

With gravity on, it melts. So I turn up rigidity. It refuses to bend. I turn gravity off, it bends, but gets all wobbly. The "hammer" I've tried as a passive and an active nCloth object. Nada. I've messed with attract mesh, the damping for that, all the resistances, painting weights, but still nothing.

Any ideas?

Use the softSheetMetal preset for starters and try lowering the Bend Resist and Restitution angle.

What makes the can crumble and stay that way is the Restitution Angle and Restitution Tension. The lower the angle the more bend and the higher the tension the more it will hold the bend in place.
