Hi all,

I've made a walkcycle test of my character. There is no proper foot roll off couse his feet are longer than his shins and the space below his body is smaller then the length of his foot.

Let me know what you think of it :)

You can download a highres version here (

or look at the youtube version:here (

Real good walkcycle for a chubby character ;p

If im gonna comment on something id say the tail could use some more attention. Think u could bend it "inward/downward" abit more...

And maybe some more motion in the fingers... other then that, it looks real good!

I like the hands movement, free flow.
But keen observe at Left Toe. It just gone to the floor.

Nice character! :)

My few comments. I feel odd about the balance while he is walking. The weight shift from planted foot to the lifted foot is going too soon. And since he seems to be a heavy character he is definitely gonna go off balance. This also can be from the way his foot is lifted and moved to front, it is pointing upwards which is very odd.

Also the weight wise I would snap the feet a little faster while walking because I would imagine a heavy mass moving in a short step and that will make him move quicker to gain balance.

Hi Maulik,

Thanks for the reply. I had already updated my walkcycle, take a look and tell me what you think of it the way it is now.

I've exadurated the up down movement of the hips, cleaned up the curves of the feet, added a little bit of movement to the fingers (barley noticable), and give more movement to the tail.

You can get a highres quicktime (80Mb) from: here (

The lowres youtube is: here (

Nice update there. It does show more weight now. The main thing bothering me is his toes, they look stiff, maybe add some overlap there. The ears and tail might be moving too much, maybe tone it down a tad.

I think balance wise it has improved, I dont see those things anymore :)

However I still have issue with the feet. From contact to flat transition seems long to me, considering his short legs.

And I agree tail is going too high.

Otherwise I really like it so far :) It has a nice personality to it.

Looking good!

You've definitely improved the weight now.

One thing I would try at this point is offsetting keys for different parts of the body, just to see how it looks. It may not be "realistic" but it can give you appealing results.

Try moving all the torso keys forward a frame or two, so it moves after the feet contacts. And the head and arms (or just the shoulder) an additional frame or two from the torso.

See what happens...
