Hi, i am trying to do some water with something swimming on it. I created a nurbsplane and converted it into a softbody and added a turbulence field. I saw this technique at www.gnomononline.com
But my problem is now, that my particles move all over the place. But i want them to be trying to go back to their origin.
First i thought springs might do so, but i don't know how. :hmm:
Well, i'll restart maya now and try it again but you would save me a lot of time ;) Thanks.

When you create the soft body make sure you check the options;
"duplicate make orginal soft"
"make non soft a goal"
and also check
"hide non-soft object"
set the goal weight to about 0.8 to start with you can alter this latter.
What this will do is make a copy of your orginal surface and this is also a goal for your soft surface, so your soft surface always tries to hold the shape or the goal.

Also make sure that your playback speed is set to "Play Every Frame." Soft Bodies will wig out if you have it set to a frame rate.
