I'm working on a little game with Torque engine...This are my first step, I'm a 3d modeler

For this job I need to learn how to rig my models, and..... I don't know nothing!!! :(

Please can you help me?... Witch is the right way to put bones on my models?!?....which bones tree?!...And how can I animate it?!

rear bones (toe) is like a snake animation?!? how can I do?
front fins are like human arm?! ..

Hey Dandy,

Im not sure if I would try and rig that with a biped.... Its a fish :-) lol

My best advice would be to try and rig it with bones... It looks like you are using 3ds Max. If you have the help section go there and it will tell you how to set up your Whale. You will probably need to use a IKspline for the main body or a similar set-up.

If you have never rigged anything before It might take me a while to explain of the steps involved in rigging that whale. But I would suggest wathcing a bunch of video tutorials and read up on how to rig correctly... before you just jump in there and start creating bones and moving them around. Rigging a character is a long tedious process that has to be done with precision and a lot of things can go wrong along the way... :-)

Just a heads up... don't get frusterated if you have to re-buiild this whales skeleton 10 times over. You'll learn from it though and who know's maybe some day you will bea kick ass Character Set up artist. Also check out this websie its awesome for learning stuff on rigging.
