View Full Version : Skin Shader Issue

hi all, i've just finished to make a texture in zbrush for a model, now if i want to use it with a scattering shader, where i have to connect the image node? i've tried in the SSS front color, but the result is a multiply of the texture image and the scattering color..... , now i've read the manual but i can't find if it's correct to use a sss shader with a painted texture..

you need to feed all the scattering layers with maps.
Or plug one map in the diffuse color, and pump the weight to be 1 (or 100%).
But this way you'll not get any scattering... so generally what you'll need to do when using SSS is to have a diffuse map, the subdermal map, epidermal map, back Scatter map... Etc.
They can be all variations of the same map. Or you can even feed the same map to all channels but passing them through a Color Correction before.
Less work you do on the SSS shader, worst its gonna look.

There is plenty of presets, and material about SSS in XSI.. google it.

Here's a good alternative to the SSS node that comes with XSI.
It's pretty much the same, but it has some interesting fixes to the default one.;action=display;threadid=34836
