Hi! this is an upgrade of an old picure I painted long time ago, It's painted in Photoshop7, hope you like it!

05 May 2003, 12:11 PM
Great as always!

I really like your stuff at Sijun. It's nice if you're starting to post here too.

I can't decide which version of this image I like more, it seems you updated it on your site. Anyway, the old version was also very good.

Keep it up man!

05 May 2003, 03:15 PM
that is just damn good!
deserves a place on the frontpage in my opinion!
can you show us the reference pic? i hope you had one, otherwise.....:surprised

05 May 2003, 05:17 PM
wow first I thought it was a 3dpic

Just amazing, the colorflow and ... everything just fits together.

05 May 2003, 10:16 PM
excellent work CaptFlushGarden !!

did you start it in 3d first ? to get the principale shapes..

05 May 2003, 10:16 PM

05 May 2003, 10:18 PM

05 May 2003, 10:23 PM

05 May 2003, 10:25 PM
As Sheep factory said :

This is absolutely stunning ! Please give us some more info on how you did it and if you had a reference pic !

05 May 2003, 10:26 PM
debri, ripped seats, destroyed engines,......but you got me all excited about bodies! Where did they go??

great job even without the corpses though :applause:

05 May 2003, 10:27 PM
Hey thanks alot for the great compliments!

Mikko K: yupp yupp I try to post at as many forums I can hehehe.

Kheemo: nope it's 100% 2D I'm no good at 3D ehehe.

I surfed the net for boeing 737 pics, and crashed planes to se how busted stuff could look, then I painted an aircraft that I wanted to be almost in one piece so you can se what it is, because in reality there would not be much left of an aircraft, even a big one like this!

I don't want to make dead bodies because 1: they're hard to make 2: dead bodies are really really nasty and 3: I try to paint as little blood and pain pics as possible, I men yeah there's a crashed plane there, but no blood and stuff like that, dunno why I don't paint that, just don't find it interesting.

Thanx again for the compliments guys! and wohoo! I made it to the front page :bounce:

05 May 2003, 10:27 PM
Stunning piece of work, must have taken quite a while to create !

with this kind of stuff. youll make it to the front page every time ;)

05 May 2003, 10:33 PM

did you use picture references or a 3d model render to paint onto ?
or do you just have an amazing sense of perspective.

05 May 2003, 10:36 PM
Nice feel to the image:thumbsup:

You're just missing the part where there's a guy eating the flesh of a frozen corpse's ass;)

I'll never fly again now...:hmm:

05 May 2003, 10:37 PM
Could we see the original please??:D

05 May 2003, 10:37 PM

Actually, come to think of it....

05 May 2003, 10:54 PM
honestly that's some of the best, most photoreal 2d stuff I've ever seen.

1  to you from me

05 May 2003, 10:57 PM
how big is the original?

05 May 2003, 10:57 PM
CaptianFlushGarden you BLOW MY MIND!! everyone should check out his website .. AMAZING WORK!! KEEP POSTING ON CG TALK!!

05 May 2003, 11:08 PM
dude... you had me fooled... I THOUGHT U USED SOME 3D HELP... wow... man... wow....

05 May 2003, 11:09 PM
That is actually amazing! you've set the atmosphere just right! Awesome work on the highlights, reflections and clouds.

I use it as a wallpaper right now. I'm going to show it off to some folks at a LAN party next week.

05 May 2003, 11:23 PM
What about a 1600 pixels wide version so that I may have a new background ? ;)

05 May 2003, 11:39 PM
Amazing art work there with Photoshop. I like the dark grey feeling about it. Very good detail overall the picture.

05 May 2003, 11:40 PM
Yowsa! you are psycho! nice detail... great image.

05 May 2003, 11:40 PM
Can you say CG choice award anyone?

GREAT JOB! Literaly had my jaw hangen.

05 May 2003, 11:44 PM
Very nice. It remindes me of the film "Alive". I was looking for some bodies as well, but didn't see any. The stillness you've established with the color pallette and the cloud cover gives enough of a feeling of death that you don't need them.

This would make a nice handout card for flight insurance companies:

"Allstate: because you never know"

05 May 2003, 02:06 AM

What did you say? You were the only survivor and after
you woke up you took a picture with your camera, which
mysteriously survived the crash just like you?

Hey that reminds me of a remote controled airplane that I used to have as a crashed and burned (wiping a tear from my eye) I also had a dog that got hit by a car when i was 8, do ya wanna bring that one up too!

I'm just kidding, thats a great piece of work.

05 May 2003, 04:49 AM
My kitty died when I was 8. :annoyed:

Thanks for painting this deppressing ass picture.

Although your technique is friggin BRILLIANT!!

05 May 2003, 04:50 AM

very nice. I love the atmosphere, very dark and apocolyptic.

05 May 2003, 05:20 AM

05 May 2003, 05:41 AM
Thats really awesome, depressing but it wouldn't make much sense to have a plane crash in a bright happy field with bunnies hopping around the ruins......or would it?

Very nice work there. I have taken a very close look at your picture, but even then I could not find a flaw.. nice

But how do you create such a beautifull artwork? Do you first create a rough set-up and after that you finetune the more detailed areas?? and after that again?

GREAT :arteest: :)

05 May 2003, 07:50 AM
