View Full Version : ...cache (post-process) function ??

sometimes i want to stay away from realtime simulations and wish if i have a cache file of something to speed up workflow.

because of that i want some tips to understand more about how to make these things became a post-process function and have more fun with good feedbacks previews and animations.

*for example :

1 - when you have a cloth, first set and try some properties, look what´s going on, try more, then hit simulate and create keys (bake animation)

2 - taking a looking further at comet cartoon SuperLag script, it seems to have a good piece about that : (

3 - is it possible to implement a formula inside a default spring controllers and put the simulation only when you hit a button ?

What about the Flex modifier? Check out what Paul Neale has created using it, here ( Most of the bone and chain stuff is done using flex on a spline and then using the spline to drive the animation. Once you have a flex you like you can point cache the data and disable the flex modifier. The point cache can be easily applied to most objects to cache out data and by disabling the modifiers you can dramatically enhance the viewport performance. This is also a way to adjust the playback and reuse the data on unanimated/simulated objects.
