i tried importing a lightwave model like i normally would and then i get this error at the bottom of the screen in red. does anyone have a clue as to what this means.

maybe it would help if you'd tell us what the error says ?

Open the script editor/log (the scroll/standing bunny icon at the bottom, or ALT+F4) and report the whole error.
Have you logged a bug with Softimage's support too btw?
The most common error I find with importing LWO models is when there are two point polygons present. Softimage just doesn't understand what they are.

toonafish: that's all thats there at the bottom. on the side ( i think ) it'll read "false" when i tried to import the object. i'm not at home right now, but that much i remember.
ThE_JacO: i'm going to try yog's suggestion first before i go and report it.
yog: well as i stated above i'm gonna check for 2 point poly's. because i can import some objects just not all. so that seems logical. i'll keep you guys posted tonite once i get home.
guys thanks for the input you're awesome.
Anything pre LW 6 format wont open with Point Oven... so if you object is very old or saved by accident as LW 5Xxx format this can be a cause.

i'm sorry i should have mentioned i have lw 9.3 and xsi 6.5. i had imported a basic model of it before, but after fudging with it in lw it gave me the error when i tried to re-import ( some time after).

Be aware that LightWave can handle also disconnected lonely vertices, even if they may import some cases, in xsi they may cause you trouble.
