Hi there,

I just want to break a model into separate objects (opposite of merge?)
Wanted to know if there's a best way of going about it, or even if it's possible in XSI.

So breaking one object -> many objects.

Extract Keep or Extract Delete will copy or separate a selection of polygons into a new object.
This is somewhere in the periphery of RTFM territory though :)

not sure if thtis is what you're looking for, but have a look at the shatter plugin for xsi at

It will work.
Shatter is a plugin to alter geometry and create fragments, not to separate polygons (the inverse of merge.)
