View Full Version : roadrunner legs

I will be working on a side project coming up soon, and I was told that one of the characters I need to rig has to be able to run like the cartoon roadrunner (the legs moving in a fast circular motion). I haven't gotten the character yet but my first idea was a seperate geometry for the "roadrunner" that you could switch from the normal legs to the "roadrunner" ones. I was wondering if anyone has done this type of character before, or has any more ideas/suggestions?

almost sounds like you would want to do the roadrunner legs with a cylinder with an animated texture with speed hooked up to an attribute for the animator to control or something.

probably definitely need a swappable setup if you were to go that route. i think going with the animated texture would build in blur to the character, otherwise you would probably have to do that in post.

this would all be varied on the perspective of the shots though, if it's going to be 2d-ish then you could probably do it this way but if there will be cameras from front / back perspectives then it might look wrong...
