well.. Ill try to finish this challenge.
Not sure yet what Im doing here.
It would be interesting to create as
weird lifeform as possible..
mhh....so you dont have a scene in ur mind yet?:curious: .....mmmh...this make me curious!;) so...ill be back to see what u will do!

I had an inspiration last night .. thinking about doing a multidimensional creature/spaceship/being passing through our three dimensional universe..

here testing mel generated multidimensional object/being..

testing another type of structures

Interesting structures. But i don't understand where you want to go, can you tel more about your concept. :)

well, im not that sure my self...
but as in my last sketch I would like to create some structures that glide through our dimensions and there is a one witness to see this abnormality..
and I would like to make these structures as nonhuman as possible..
Im not satisfied with my current structure tests.. they resemble too much man
made structures.. like to combine to them some organic things .. perhaps some
shrink wrapped thing over these stick structures or trying to to make them self
and for the landscape I try for simplicity.

structures in landscape.

with a bit higher resolution.
Im not fully satisfied with this. the structure behind is too different from the front one. Ill make new struct with more detail.
Here some explanation about the structure generation:
I have two ways of creating these poles.
1. normal pole = One end of the pole is its own pivot point and other end is a locator.
the pole is aimed to this locator and pole stretches if I drag the locator.
2. pole grid = I select two objects and mel gets the closest points on each mesh and
around these points within randomized range mel creates 10 normal poles and attaches
them by geometry constraint to selected objects.

Your idea of a multidimensional being is very intriguing! Perhaps the most original idea yet. The forms you have created are really cool, but they do seem somewhat inorganic. But then we are talking about alien life forms so they might not appear alive at first glance.
It would be interesting to see odd shaped objects (organic or crystalline) distributed randomly over the framework and then hide the framework leaving only the shapes visible. Maybe that could give it a somewhat organic quality.

So.. Ive had so little time to work with this project but lets try.. 21 days to go.
I gave up with the idea of organic structuriced lifeform cos the organic part was impossible with my current tools. So I took a direction to explore a structuriced mechanical lifeform. here is a material and tool development test

more testing material and construct
04-22-2008, 10:46 PM
building the character..

more of the character.. Im not making him so detailed cos hes going to be quite small in the picture..

Too bad you didn't finish this contest entry. Your entry was one that I really wanted to see the final version. Your depiction of aliens was quite creative. Perhaps if you have the spare time, you will finish it and post it in the gallery section.

hope so too.. thanks
