View Full Version : Problem with attrFieldGrp

I have an attrFieldGrp, and I'm trying to add an -attribute to it. If If I do something like this:
$object = cube1;
attrFieldGrp -attribute ($object + ".translate");
it works fine, but if I pass an arbitrary vector:
vector $vec = <<0, 0, 0>>;
attrFieldGrp -attribute ($vec);
I get an error saying:
"Error: Error while parsing arguments."
-attribute is supposed to take a vector as an argument. Does anyone know why this would be giving me an error?

From the Maya docs:
"-at/attribute string [Q][E][C] The name of a unique attribute of type vector."
The address of the attribute you point it to must be of type vector, not the address itself.

oops, just re-read what I wrote and it looks confusing. What I meant is the attr specified by the string must be of type vector but the address to the attr must still be in the form of a string, ie: object.t.

Ahhh, thanks, it must not have clicked when I read it in the docs. Make sense now.
