View Full Version : Painting on layers...

03-27-2008, 04:26 PM

I'm rather new to all this, so apologies if somebody has covered this on a previous thread (I did have a look but couldn't see anything). Anyway, I expect this is a really silly question. I've just started using Painter -- I've been using Photoshop for years -- and I've found a problem that I can't seem to sort out.

I'm using a Flat Oils 40 Brush on the background layer. My main colour and additional colour are about the same. When I paint on the background layer everything behaves itself nicely...

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgfpzttx_214kq28hvqBut when I create a new layer (settings: default/ignore) and paint onto this with the same brush and colours, I start to get white edges at the start of each stroke.

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgfpzttx_23d83558dtPresumably it's reacting to the transparency of the layer and not the colour of the background benath. Can anyone prescribe a way of stopping this?

Many thanks,

The fix for this is to click "pick up underlying colours" in the layers pallete although those white edges really shouldn't happen. People have been asking for that to be fixed for a long time.

Thanks for this.
