Title: Bananas
Name: Marco Neumann
Country: Germany
Software: BodyPaint, Maxwell Render, Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush

Hi folks,

this is a project I finished recently. Basemesh was built in Maya. UVs were done in headus UV Layout. Then I sculpted the mesh in ZBrush, textured in Photoshop und Bodypaint, rendered in Maya with Maxwell Render (using ZBrush-Displacementmap and HDRI as single light source), final postwork in Adobe Photoshop. The whole thing was just a fun project - a workflow test between the applications involved.

Hope you like it,

yas perfect, nothing big's but nice and clean
i have seen yours Photos on yours Site, that's very expressive.

one little question? what you think now about Maxwell Renderer, can you say it's better for such works then MR

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback Rogier and Freebug. :)

Well, I must admit that this is one of my first works with Maxwell so I might not really say which one is better - MR or Maxwell. I originally started this scene with Mental Ray materials and I was quite happy with it but then I thought maybe I can add a bit to realism when using Maxwell. So I changed the materials and some other things halfway through the production of this image. I guess that you are able to achieve similar results with Mental Ray. But I love Maxwell and I just wanted to get a bit deeper into it, especially in creating shaders/materials.

Thanks a lot everybody for posting.

Yes, most of the banana texture is based on self made photos of banana peel which I further processed, deformed etc. in Photoshop. Finally I used Bodypaint to clean the textures at the UV seams for some nice blendings.

And the background is also a realtexture - an out-of-focus photo I took for this special purpose. I simply textured a basic polygon plane with that and put it in the background of the scene. As I focused on the bananas during the whole process of my workflow test I didnīt want to put extra efforts in creating a background made of "real" geometry, especially as it is out of focus in the final image anyway due to the chosen DOF.

Great work mate!

Just didnt work why did you need so many softwares?

Just with Maya, and maybe final correction in photoshop you cound do that!

Although with Zbrush you can add fine details!

MR its much more powerfull thatn Maxwell by the way

although Maxwell has a very easy setup...

Good luck
