Absolutely brilliant! Each time you post a new image, I think you can't possibly surpass it; I'm always wrong.

05-08-2003, 08:45 AM
the DOF comes from cinema or you post produced something in photoshop?

The near DOF looks cinema 4d 7 not 8

05-08-2003, 09:05 AM
WOW........................the textures are freaking beautiful, did you use sub surace scattering at all on the nails or is that just mapping..............GREAT JOB! :buttrock:

05-08-2003, 09:06 AM

Whimsical,stlyish.Beautiful in every regard. :applause:

05-08-2003, 10:25 AM
Wonderful. Breathtaking. Worthy of a place in a big national museum or something.
(Mabye just a tad more translucency on the fingers though? And the 3 visible fingers are a bit too much alike and regular, especially the pinky should be different I think)

05-08-2003, 10:33 AM
looks really sweet.

05-08-2003, 10:38 AM
wow!! stunning work! :applause: :applause: love the concept too ;)

Original and beautiful!

05-08-2003, 11:16 AM
Amazing stuff! I can't believe how nice it is textured, modelled, lighted and rendered! It's just so perfect!
Great work~once again :bounce: !!

05-08-2003, 11:31 AM
one of the best image made in 3d y have ever seen...:arteest:

05-08-2003, 11:36 AM
great image!

reminds of the wonderful French film 'City of Lost Children' which had trained fleas that carried syringes of hallucinogens....

05-08-2003, 11:37 AM
Very surreal, whimsy fairy tale like. The only crit would be that the flea should be even smaller(Small Nitpick) .But all in all it's a very nice picture.

05-08-2003, 11:49 AM
My only crits have already been said...... excellent.
   :)

05-08-2003, 11:56 AM
impressive stuff. Congratulations.

05-08-2003, 12:10 PM
idem lol

really inspiring image , this is a good idea brillantly realized

big up! :buttrock:

05-08-2003, 12:14 PM
outstanding  :buttrock:  :applause:
but yeah, fleas are usually a lot smaller, my cat had them once, horrible little things

05-08-2003, 12:17 PM
o man that is so f-in cool...
dont know whether to be impressed or depressed!!!

superior idea and great image.... bods well for C4D too!!!
although it IS the artist

again brilliant!!

05-08-2003, 12:20 PM
Very nice work. But I agree with others above, the flea should be smaller, unless this is a extra large one from a fantasy World.;)
Nice ambiant mood, lighting looks very nice too.:)

05-08-2003, 12:28 PM
Great Idea!!

take a look at the bump of the fingers...it seems to be a little be strong.

Great work.

05-08-2003, 12:41 PM
Wow really good..
amazing >_</

05-08-2003, 12:49 PM
Wow, excellent work. The only thing that could use a little touching up is the texture on the hands, they look hard and brittle right now for some reason. This is very minor though, excellent piece!

05-08-2003, 01:03 PM
very very good works! :buttrock: :buttrock:

05-08-2003, 01:08 PM
Spectacular work, as always.

Flea is too big--my dog would have a heart attack if he saw this. :)

05-08-2003, 01:11 PM
AMAZING !!!.....
It's been a long time since i was impressed this much.
Thnx for impressing me ;)
5 star for sure.

05-08-2003, 01:13 PM
I think this is awesome, my only crit would be the texture on the hand is a bit grainy, is there any way you cound reduce the bump arifacts but still leave the wrinkles.

05-08-2003, 01:14 PM
Thx all comments. Some answer:
The bump of the finger is so sharp, because when I finished the picture I sharpened that, because it made the coach nicer and the fingerbumps get more sharp too.

the flea is so big because it is not an animal flea, but one that lives with the human body. I read that this kind of flea is 1-4 mm. He is a fat flea!

DOF rendered, not a postwork

SSS fake sss, I used "chanlum" channe shader

05-08-2003, 01:19 PM
Absolutly brilliant!

the well deserve 5 stars!

05-08-2003, 01:27 PM
Excellent work!
Very inspireing!

05-08-2003, 01:30 PM
this is fantastic!!!! BUT (just to be sure you notice my opinion) : IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD MAKE HIM HAVE IT IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

05-08-2003, 01:34 PM
There is no way I feel qualified to critique this image. Outstanding work once again from a Cinema 4D master.

05-08-2003, 01:37 PM
Really great work:buttrock:
Didn't know Cinema4d had a so beautiful render engine.
Bravo!:applause: :applause:

05-08-2003, 01:50 PM
Another stunning work from the C4D master!! :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

05-08-2003, 01:51 PM
woohaaa! that's great!

05-08-2003, 01:53 PM
!What a Cute Flea!

Impressive work Pupii:thumbsup: Nice idea.I like the caravan design and all the texturing job. More :bounce:

This is the first time I see yr work here, but looking at your style (esp. the animal theme, texture/bump works and C4D) I 'm sure Ive seen yours before on other site. You must be the one who made the Snail, Rhino and Boris born.

05-08-2003, 01:55 PM
well done. One of the few cg pictures that tells a story.

05-08-2003, 02:04 PM
Excellent !!!

I agree that the fingerprint bumps are too sharp.

05-08-2003, 02:13 PM
Very nice work! The skin and minaturization (sp) of the cart is phenomenal (sp?) I need to quit using words I can't spell.

05-08-2003, 02:14 PM
Very Original.... although I have to agree about the bumps on the fingers. This is great work though- keep it up!!!!:buttrock:

05-08-2003, 02:16 PM
Amazing originality and perfection in execution. Congrats!!!

05-08-2003, 02:16 PM
There's something wrong with fingers for sure, but that's not the bump imo, it's the lack of translucency. Pupii: try using the Translucency shader or chanlum, they work perfectly with skin. :wavey:

That Adrian Guy
05-08-2003, 02:16 PM
Beautiful lighting and texturing!

I think the size of the flea is perfect

05-08-2003, 02:23 PM
cant really add much more then awesome! Lighting is perfect and gives a wonderful mood! Textures are also very very well executed! awesome job!

edit: Thirdeye, that was exactly what i was looking for as well! couldnt really point out what was wrong but i knew there was something off.

05-08-2003, 02:23 PM
Another thought--the fingernails look a little too flat to my eye. But I have sort of freakish fingers, so maybe it's me. :hmm:

05-08-2003, 02:26 PM
Olé Bravo!!!

Great job!!!, very original and beautifuly modeled.

05-08-2003, 02:57 PM
That's awesome work, i really like the concept

05-08-2003, 03:12 PM
Excelent work and composition, very original and beautifull, I love it, congratulations. :applause:

05-08-2003, 03:20 PM
:argh: man, this is damn nice! The concept is amazing enough....and the other...  awesome!:applause:

05-08-2003, 03:24 PM
WOW Thats all I can say. The textures on the man's hand alone knocked me out, and when I awoke the rest of the picture did too. GREAT GREAT GREAT Job!

05-08-2003, 03:26 PM
Inspired by the movie "City of Lost Children"?

If not, make sure you check it out. It's a wicked movie. :surprised

Awesome work!

05-08-2003, 03:57 PM

that´s how I like
great everything

especially rhe texturing of the wagon
how you did the scratchy paint is great

wonder how you did the shader of the cotton swab

the only crit for me is that the face in behind could look a little bit friendlier.
I know that it should look concentrated, but for his expression is too angry...

05-08-2003, 04:06 PM
:applause: I just had to pop in again, great work! /me sets to background :bounce: :bounce:

05-08-2003, 04:10 PM
From the 3D art i've seen so far this is one of the few that looks adsolutely photorealistic. Awesome, you're a real talent.

05-08-2003, 04:21 PM
Amazing work!
This might ave been mentioned but the bump map on the skin looks a little too deep, the shadows are too pronounced. Also where are the cuticles on the nails?

Excellent job!

05-08-2003, 04:38 PM
Such a beautiful work~~:applause: :applause:
AND WHY ONLY BE GIVEN 4 STARS? 5 FROM ME~~~:bounce: :bounce:

The Magic Pen
05-08-2003, 04:38 PM
Very cool

05-08-2003, 04:47 PM
Damn that's cool.

IMHO, maybe add a bit more rounding on the fingernails (front to back), they appear a little flat topped..., and then the buldge over onto the finger around the cutical, that part seems a bit flat too...

Other than that, seriously sweet work, modeling / textures / concept kicks arse!

05-08-2003, 04:48 PM
that is awesome. at first i hought you composited that guy in. looks great. i love the idea.

05-08-2003, 04:49 PM
I love it :)

05-08-2003, 05:02 PM
Truly awesome.Five stars:bounce: :buttrock:

Amazing work. More than impressive.

05-08-2003, 05:26 PM

05-08-2003, 05:40 PM
Wow very nice through and through. Great job :applause:

05-08-2003, 06:55 PM
holy smeg..
i dont know what's more awesome, the concept or the texturing/lighting :surprised

05-08-2003, 07:00 PM
outstanding!:bounce: :applause:

05-08-2003, 07:10 PM
love it man, but i think if you turned down the bump map a bit it woul dmake it look much better, the wrinkles seem to be casting to much shadows, there a bit to deep

other then that its a 10:applause:

05-08-2003, 07:12 PM

05-08-2003, 07:24 PM
Very nice!

05-08-2003, 08:29 PM

I love it! Great idea, great realization :buttrock: :airguitar

05-08-2003, 08:48 PM
Damn. I really like it.
how do you guys come up with this stuff?

05-08-2003, 10:00 PM
Astonishing! You are a master.
reminds of the wonderful French film 'City of Lost Children' which had trained fleas that carried syringes of hallucinogens....
That was my first thought, exactly. A wonderful film, indeed! The CGI flea with the syringe was just too cool, and so unexpected.

05-08-2003, 10:13 PM
Excellent work.....simply great....i like the idea also....:bounce:

Steve Warner
05-08-2003, 10:18 PM
Oh yeah, that's just amazing! Great work!!!

05-08-2003, 10:22 PM
The concept that you did is amazing. I think what you have there so far is great. But I feel that you still need to adjust and add more to the head and hand of the person. I like the eye of the person but the expression is not all there. The hand is perfect. Make it look like a real persons hand and you will have it. Show the fingernails bitten down or ripped from being bitten. Show the fingernail with more color and parts where the skin is dry and cracking or just pealing. Maybe some hair on the knuckles. pieces of dry skin coming up from the back of the nail. Also the blur on the front tips of the fingers looks akward, you might want to keep the tips in focus as not to distract.
Have you tried to take a picture of your face and put it in the background? or your hand and comp the flea and buggy to your hand?

well this is a great piece of work.

05-08-2003, 10:29 PM
simply great.

no further crits than those already mentioned.

you rock!!

05-08-2003, 10:40 PM
Great concept.
Truly creative.

Is it just me or does the cotton swab(Q-tip) on the wagon look too blurry?
Compare the distance with the sign on the wagon. It's not too much further.
Also compare it to the distance of the middle finger (The one behind the flea).
Anyone else?

That's my only critique.

Great work!

05-08-2003, 11:07 PM
Simply astounding.

05-08-2003, 11:10 PM
small beings pulling big stuff, excellent.

05-08-2003, 11:14 PM
The Q-tip is a little to blurry and the nail going into the side doesn't show an indentation.

05-08-2003, 11:22 PM
Flea circus, haha i love it.

05-08-2003, 11:34 PM
Well this is INSANE, I got a private show with Cinema 4d 8.1 on 3dfestival today.. and I must admit, it's a program worth taking another look into..

And this image convinced me to plug in my demo cd right now..

This is the same thing that Tito (lildragon) said when he switched from Maya to C4D :D

05-09-2003, 03:16 AM
Good bye Truespace hello C4D.

05-09-2003, 03:44 AM
You did very nice job, I love this style. Keep post up more.

05-09-2003, 03:57 AM
Thats awesome, great stuff.
The textures are amazing, lighting looks spot on.

The hand need some softening though, as mentioned by others.
Something about those skin creases thats distracting.

05-09-2003, 05:26 AM
Brilliant. I love the composition. Very well done. My only suggestion is that since it's so tiny... you may want to give it a sort of macro lens effect. Maybe a little dof. That can be done in post though, i'm sure. Awesome. =)

05-09-2003, 05:55 AM
WOW, great concept, great skills!!! Cinema 4D is a very underated package. I'm a MAX user but only because I could get a student version of MAX (+many in industry use it) and Cinema 4D wasn't quite the force then as it is now. All the reviews I've seen of version 8 give it a big thumbs up.

And images like this give me more motivation to go with Cinema 4D if I were to freelance.... Excellent stuff!!!

05-09-2003, 07:36 AM
Wow, this is so cool. I really like the angle and the close up really gives you a more intimate view of things.

The texture on the hands is nice too.

This is my new desktop image!

05-09-2003, 07:49 AM
i am loving this piece, the hand painted look of the cart is excelent

05-09-2003, 08:17 AM
impressive works !!!!

05-09-2003, 08:34 AM

05-09-2003, 11:00 AM

GREEAATT work!!   good realism!

The texturing is beautiful. I really like the fingers.
The middle finger tip looks a bit dry. I've seen some really only fingers in my day, you know, you know the type of hands that have been working on automobiles their entire life and have seen lots of car oil, and workshop conditions. I don't think they were quiet as dry looking as that middle finger tip. I could be wrong, it might also be the renderer and it could be the way that you wanted the image to look.
The curviture in the finger-nails seem really flat. But, all the segments in the skin that you have are great, all the little indentations from connected pures and the elevated skin between the creases are fantastic.

Don't forget about that small thin layer of skin covers the very first area of your nail as the comes out from under the skin, on the part of the nail closer to the nuckle.
I love the work.

The textures on the wagon are great. The red and yellow parts of the main wagon are really good. It looks like it has been painted multiple times and they once the paint starts to fall off, more was painted on, you know just a real quick paint job to keep the colors nice and bright, but without scraping off the original layer of paint. The wood that has the paint applied to it looks imperfect, rotting areas, hollowed knots, holes and cracks. It looks like it has age because of this. Really nice.

The human eyes in the back makes the view really focus on the wagon immediatly. The asymetrical placement of the eyes is really good, it helps to create movement in the charactor, like he is alive, as though he can move. The contrast from the white que-tips extreme white and shadow of the eyebrow and the purple hollow tube on the other side of the center of the image infront of the tan and dark eyebrow hair create greate balance.

I'll love to see more work from you.

05-09-2003, 04:38 PM
Nice. It is good to see something come out of a different 3D app.

awesome work!!
remind me the bugs circus from "bug life"...
10/10 :applause: :bounce: :buttrock:

05-09-2003, 09:34 PM
The last piece of CGI art that made me drop my jaw was "Lady Bird". Now it dropped even further. You did it again! If I were Maxon, I'd immediately hire you for lead artist.

To me, this is some seriously good CGI shit. It's not only brilliantly done, but the images also have rich story that makes you want to see them again.

I'm sure a lot of us (especially C4D people) would like to know more, technique stuff and so on.

Keep it up!

05-09-2003, 09:48 PM
Where did you learn how to texture your models? That alone inspires me. I would love to be as good as you. Can you explain on how you do it?

Richard:eek:

05-09-2003, 10:56 PM
OMG that is absolutley incredible, 10 out 10 for idea, compostion, modelling, texturing, everything.

05-09-2003, 11:28 PM
Got it saved, gorgeous work man, I love every single pixel of it.

05-10-2003, 03:47 AM
This looks really interesting, such a cool idea!

I don't know what your fingers look like, but my nails are a lot more round than that. The ones in the picture are almost flat, which, to me, looks unnatural.

One more thing, the louse doesn't seem to be planted on the nail. Get that fixed and you've got a really good scene. The textures are very good by the way!

Great work!

05-10-2003, 06:45 AM
Excellent execution! You really pulled off the miniturized feel for this image. Rock on! :buttrock:

05-10-2003, 07:01 AM
pretty damn awesome.... the textures are incredable! Keep up the great work there!

05-10-2003, 07:32 AM

Wonderfully done! I love the glaring eyes behind, a bit more play in post, perhaps some colder colors to spearate the guys face from the backround. The central lighting there is just a little confusing.

God I love C4d getting it's due :)

see you,

Very nice, the first thing that struck me was the incredible lighting, really love it. 2nd thing was the detailing, you really portrayed the miniature scale very well. Love the nails and cogs ;) as well as the texturing. Excellent job

Critic-wise I will side with Robertp and Fingolfin regarding the Background and cotton swab... It seems the background texture could improve a tad (no question you have the skills). It feels a little "cardboardy" as is.

I had a thought about the subject matter. If the suffering of the artist (the fea in that case) is the idea then the picture might gain in power if you slant the hand upward a notch... You know..to make it harder for the flea to pull it all....well just a thought.

Once again, really sweet job Uram!

Excellent work!

One thing that bugs me is that the Near DOF blur ends too abrubtly. The two fingers' tips closer camera is blurred, fine, but the blur ends so rapidly that it seems not like DOF but like a problem with texturing. This is just a little technical problem maybe due to cinema4d but I dunno!

Superb lighting, modeling, texturing.

Oh my.

  :buttrock:

Only one coment, the bump map in the fingers on the second plane seem to be inverted, so the wrinkles appears to be upwards.

But, aside that, marvellous work!

absolutely one of the most beautiful CG scenes I have ever seen in my entire life. I'm seriously speechless and I can stare between the wireframe and final for hours.

10-31-2003, 01:48 AM
Man that blows me away that is really good.

12-22-2003, 02:25 PM
Really inspiring, congrats!

The skin shader of the fingers it's not perfect but, even if important for the overall look, you were able to mantain the global atmosphere. And that it's what counts most of all at least imho.

A really beautiful job :applause: !

even though there are some problems with the bump for the skin of the hand, this is such a great work. makes me chuckle every time.

I like it alot ur real artist and ur work brilliant

09-14-2004, 08:05 PM
the whole scale of this piece is what does it for me. And the texture work. It's fantastic.

However, I wonder why the guy looks mad? ... that seems a little off ... also in your wire frame ... the little gear wheel for the cannon looks a little messy.

Other than that primo!

Absolutely amazing work. I really like the hand crafted feel of this piece.

My only crit: The hand textures, particularly the fingerprints look wrong and maybe due to an inverted bump map.

02-04-2005, 11:47 AM
exceptional, beautiful both the idea and the realization!!!

06-25-2005, 04:26 AM
