Giatropolis is a near light speed Interstellar biosphere. This simple rough model lacks the features that will slowly bring it to life. Est size of 10 miles in diameter, the sphere was created using a molten Iron Nickle asteroid. Ocean held in place by centrifugal force and habitat of Dolphins.

My computer guy got back in town and got me up and running.
Now to hustle through the finish line.
Giatropolis has a visitor, and one of our resident dolphins is giving him a tour of the wet zone.

Inspired by David Brin's "Uplift", an alien species communicates through a Dolphin, with a human, inside Giatropolis.

I do hope my "Image" submission was accepted as XSI has been a long learning curve. Sadly, my choice of using it has proven to be a challenge unto itself and I've not even finished all the models (over 30) in time to make the animation.
But as a Quadriplegic I've learned that their are challenges which just take me longer due to the physical limits and not the mental vision.
It's been fun.... and hopefully I'll get the educational license from the Image catagory. Then by next years challenge I'll be creating instead of learning new software.
Thanks to all the sponsers and good luck to everybody.
Tim Thompson.

Nothing wrong with the concept here, a 10km in d gravitational city to support dolphins is a grand concept

I ordinarily would have said a shame you couldn't finish.. but from what i read in your post it sounds like you took a big step just to be here..not meaning to sound patronizing or anything hehe

Best of luck to you too

take care

I love pushing myself to learn something new.
This truly was an "Uplifting Challenge", and my 1st experience with Softimage was a positive one.
CG opens the door the worlds of our imagination. Someday I'll mange to create this Bio-sphere in a short, as I've only been learning CG for the past 8 years and realize that both the software and computers have yet to reach their full potential too. (even though they've come a long way in such a short time)
Hopefully I can find a "Input Device" manufacture interested in developing a concept I have, that could be marketed as a replacement for the mouse and buttons (also usable for gameplay). Gamers and the disabled together make up a solid target audience, while making it much easier to interface with the computer for others like me. Unless mass marketed, the costs are prohibitive, "Adaptive devices" that are slow and limited go for $300 (US) and up. I project a $75-$125 (US) retail cost. (If anybody in that Industry is reading this, I'm open for inquires)
