Here my top 4 ideas I came up with this morning.
Nothing really flushed out yet of course just scribbling my ideas down before they get lost in the deep abyss of my brain never to resurface.
So what is going on in these pictures!?
Well human alien interaction is what this contest is all about.
Top left: A chess tournament, a holographic chess tournament because that is Sci-fi for now. Basically this match will determine the fate of humanity being ruled or ruling over an Alien race Known as the Gordolockifax (haha). The match is looking good for humanity but the Alien is cheating! He taps the young lady on the shoulder and as she turns begins rearranging pieces on the board in his favor!
Bottom Left: Here we see a classic prank with a twist. Our Alien friend has poured some goo in the snoozing ladies hand and is about to tickle her nose with a feather!
Top Right: Well seems they've made up for now, here is a "date" with the alien flexing his tentacle stuff only to be laughed at...poor fella.
Bottom Right: Drinking game! No I don't condone drinking but apparently these two do. So far the young lady is drinking our Alien friend under the table as he begin to waver. Many of Alien/human customers are taking in the action for kicks.
Edit: Almost forgot, this is my first challenge here. Do I have to submit this to my submit entry page too?

I like how none of your ideas are the typical human alien intercourse we usually get. These are much more everyday situations, maybe not the chess match, but nothing terribly extreme. Refreshing.

Thanks for the kind words innactpro.
I figure if this contest is all about interaction
These characters should appear as though they've been around each other for a period of time, beyond the shock of, HEY YOUR AN ALIEN!
And considering my art style is Anime-esque the temptation for Eroge is ever present with humans and aliens, I'll do my best to stray away as to not offend anyone. Haha!

First thumbs are actually in my thread. But these more refined sketchs are more relevant to what I am aiming for in this contest. Basically the fate of man kind rest on the outcome of a holographic chess match. Will humanity be ruled or rule over the Gordolokifax?
I have to perspectives I'm playing with: A top down view of our hero challenger or a more boxing ring view.
Any comments will greatly be appreciated.

Another update as I get ramped up to nail down my final Illustration idea.
Basically trying to play with perspective, which one could offer up the best light/mood and best angel for facial expressions for my female challenger.
I like both of them as they each have pros and cons maybe some input here on the boards can get me leaning more towards one over the other?
Oh and the ring stuff under the tables are just a mental note. In my first sketchs above you'll see legs on the table...nahhh...that not Sci-fi enough, hover tables! now that is Sci-Fi right! I'll likely put some ring blur or some sort of feel of motion keeping the tables aloft

I like the second perspective better, compositionally. Perhaps move the point of view just a bit to put it a little lower to see the crowd more and right just a bit to put the human, as I'm not sure if they are both a her or not, a little left in the scene. Just maybe.

Wow, I didn't think it'd post my image three times. I'll keep that in mind next time I submit a milestone instead of just updating my thread. Thats pretty silly really.
Thanks innactpro, I think I understand what you are saying. I had to re read it a few times haha. And yes the human challeneger is female, I'd be more noticeable if I fleshed her out more. But I can draw humans so I focused more on the creature that is anything but ordinary (what sex it is I dunno! haha).
The environment is indeed critical as it tells the story of what is going on. So I'll take your suggestions and play around some more.

Oh no, I knew the human is a girl. I wasn't sure if the alien is a girl. Don't get me wrong, tenticals and extra sets of eyes are sexy, but I don't want to give the wrong impression.

Hello fellow cgtalkers,
I've fleshed a more defined concept now of my "Humanities fate" image
I did a redraw of my tentacle look down perspective and came up with this. Do believe this one works well. It gives a good angle on our "Hope" (the girl) and the alien's wicked face, which will no doubt change again as it has about 5 times already. The angle also brings the audience more into the picture.
Looking forward to seeing what you all think. On a side note she's not going to be playing Nekkid!
I'm just trying to nail down her anatomy before laying clothing on her. So please although parts of her are "rough" Critique my anatomy as this pose is proving difficult for some reason.
Far as clothing goes, it'll be pretty straight foward but very anime-future-fantasy, What does that mean?
Eureka Seven, Burst angel etc.,

Running a little tired on this image already.
Initially I wanted a happy fun scene that people could laugh at and perhaps see something different everytime they look at it.
As I redesign and flesh out the characters, background elements etc., the more I seem to dislike it as a whole.
I did some wikipedia reading on the Uplift Universe and have a few different ideas floating in my head.
These races of aliens that patron another seem as though they do experiments, genetic alterations etc., to make a particular race sapien.
Now of course Humans already are and according to Uplift's human outlook is we evolved naturally and don't need the aid of others, which is Herecy to the 5 main races.
This could in my mind, cause a war and with war you oftentimes have prisoners.
One idea is this: A human in a test-tube/lab, with my Gordolokifax aliens attempting to alter said human into a hybrid version of themselves.
Second idea: A prisoner/experiment facing down 1 or more of my aliens as he/she escapes
These of course aren't "happy" interactions but the rules do not dictate they should be.
If I get more comments or incouragement on my current concept I may continue with it.
So if you have any thoughts do share.

Perhaps you're not feeling it because it is a different kind of interaction. Humans and aliens are always seen fight in epic battles. Star Trek and Star Wars are the only places you really see humans and aliens cooperating, and that is usually against other aliens and occasionally humans.
Maybe you just don't have enough to draw on for this different kind of interaction. Maybe just go back to concept drawing and just throw some stuff down and see what flows for you.
I hate to see you bail.
