Im making Base meshes for the characters right now and going a little further so i can just better visualize how things will/ should look. my COncept/Previs of the scene will be in 3D when the base meshes are complete
03 March 2008, 09:01 AM
wrking a little on the girl char. her basemesh is complete and ready for high detailing. she is also uv mapped. i will be adding clothes later lol so dont think shes staying naked
03 March 2008, 09:05 AM
Working on getting the details of the face down. shes going to have a little bit of an Asian look to her iv decided.
03 March 2008, 09:19 AM
Im going to start work on the mesh for the 3rd Charactor now.
This guy is going to be an Alian. there will be 2 Apes Killing the Alian While
The Human female strangles A Human Soldier with her shackles. shes going to be a prisoner.
and the idea is that the 2 Apes are freeing her. Im imagining the Soldier as being a Traitor but im starting to think its going to look like the woman is the traitor. T_T.
Either way its going to be a cool thing to talk about with u guys once the PreVis is done.;)

here is the basemesh for the Alian. still have more to do on it obviously. It reminds me of a praying mantis so im going to look up some images of them for reference im sure i will be able put alot of detail into her by doing that.

This is the BaseMesh and the Uvs i have for the female model.
03 March 2008, 11:59 PM
hi, i really like the gorilla model so far. the girl is looking kind of strange, a bit to masculine for me. keep it up and good luck!

Ya so far im just doing quik roughs of the forms on the charactors so I will have a clear reference point to start from when i actually start detailing. Im doing that because if u have ever smoothed a model you know that you lose form from it which is a pain in the but so i did some work on it after they were smoothed to get some of it back and outline were im going to add the details later. Im going on a schedule were i have all the charactors based out with UV's and most if not all of the environment Based out with UV's by the end of this week.
That way i can pose all the Base Mesh Charactors in the base Mesh scene and plan out just how i want everything to be placed in my Previs.
I get all that done and all I have to worry about is the detailing of the models, Texturing, and lighting.
The part i like the least about modeling is having to make the base meshes and Uving so im making sure to get that out of the way as soon as possible so i can start doing the fun parts. :)

Continuing work on the Form for the Alien.
i think i might add some additional appendages like small wing like structures,Thorns, and Antenna. i still have to add the mouth and eyes as well.
still havent fully decided on how the legs will be shaped yet i might add an aditional joint or leave them as is. ill play with it today
03 March 2008, 06:06 PM
here is another update on the Alien design. im working on the MaleHuman BaseMesh now and should have that done today, after that Ill be setting up a pose for them to test out how all the charactors look interacting together in a scene.

Here is the BaseMesh for My 4th and Final Character. I will be making cloths, setting up a Previs and UVmapping now.
does anyone have any comments on proportion or anything on any of the characters so far?
03 March 2008, 05:13 PM
I would suggest that head is a little too big for the body and that the ankles need to be brought in a bit with careful consideration on the achilles tendon. Looking good though. (easy edits in zbrush!! Gotta love that program)
03 March 2008, 06:38 PM
testing the pose of the two human characters. Im puting the woman in a position to be strangling the man with handcuffs that will be on her wrists.
there will be a thin beam/sliding door between them in the scene so she can put her full weight into it.
03 March 2008, 09:56 PM
somethingofthesort- ill mess with it a little see if it makes a difference.

I have virtually no knowledge of how 3d works, but i find your early renderings very pleasing :D..the gorilla and mantid look astonishing..from what i've seen here, i'd say you have something impressive slowly simiring in the pot.
Best of luck to you
03 March 2008, 05:17 PM
here is how the characters will be interacting all together. Im going to add some weapons into the hand of the Apes.
Im trying to portray an emotional relationship Between the Alian and the Male Character.
03 March 2008, 05:36 PM

the modeling of the alien and the gorilla looking good .. my crit would be the poses .. they look out of balance, id suggest using some reference images if you can .. keep it coming and good luck
03 March 2008, 09:26 PM
Looks great so far. I'm not much on 3D but the modelling looks first rate. Can't wait to see it in a scene.
03 March 2008, 08:41 PM
Im testing the camera angle. This is really close to what the final perspective will be.
03 March 2008, 08:47 PM
Nightwoodwolf - Ya right now i agree about the poses i havent yet spent much time on them
ill deff be sure to look at some references to get it as good as i can Peace :)
BaronImpossible - Thanks ;)
im going to start messing with the expressions and keep tweeking the pose for the characters now. Still alot to do
03 March 2008, 06:31 PM
Im starting to add expressions and clothing for the characters now and im noticing that its hard to find references for angry expressions on women anyone know were i can find some?
its not that big of an issue but its always good to have something to study for anatomy reasons ;)
