I'm kinda late on this one. I'm going to try my best to finish my entry cause I'm busy as hell lately.
Well, I'm going for a cartoon-like image. When we, the human race, finally landed on Mars, the first astronaut leaves the Marslander to explore the area searching for a signal of life, he's get caught by surprise by an alien asking if they have permission for landing.
Of course, I'm going to work more on the design of each part of the image.

nice concept! It reminds me a bit HP commercial with aliens on mars... ? They were covering lens of space probe with color prints...

Just blocking in the shapes for the mars lander. I'm going to work on the details now. I hope by tomorrow I will have it fully textured.
I'm using the mars lander from ESA (European Space Agency) as a reference. You can check it here:
I have been using Modo 203 for modeling and UVing for now.

Added some details to the mars lander. Some bevels here and there as well, to get the feeling where they are needed. I changed my plans about texturing it now. I believe it's safer to work now on the other elements in the scene. So I can compose the whole scene and manage the time left to put the efforts where are most needed.
