04 April 2008, 03:28 PM
Now i finally got it.
The scene: A bar or a strip-club. A lot of alien species
watching some girls dancing on stage. These are also
different species- maybe a human-like girl and an exotic-alien girl.
The story: A few men rush in the club, looking like
policeofficers from an alien city, searching for a guy. In the other corner of the club a guy notices
the policemen a trys to get out through the backdoor.
04 April 2008, 03:32 PM
Hey SaphireS and Huggy!
Thank you, pals!
SaphireS: Das XSI-Angebot ist zwar ne super Sache, aber ich mach mit um mich zu messen
und zu verbessern. ;)
Huggy: Ich hab das letzte doch beendet ! :argh: ;)
04 April 2008, 03:33 PM
Cool story. The lighting is impressive.
04 April 2008, 05:30 PM
Hey that's some great start, the colors are really cool, I'll be checking how you work on it for sure!
04 April 2008, 09:44 PM
First Concept of a policeofficer.
Maybe i'll change it, but currently i like it how it is.
Anyway i will keep the materials .
04 April 2008, 09:46 PM
Pegahoul and SteevieWoo: Thank you! I'll give my best. :D
04 April 2008, 05:21 PM
I wish I could paint like you do. Hoping you'll show some progress soon and ...
... good luck ;)
04 April 2008, 06:24 PM
Looks great so far! :D
Keep it up mate!
04 April 2008, 12:45 PM
Actually its nothing, but i want to show that there's still progress. ;)
I have sorted some things and adjusted the composition. To get a clear view of the scene i've made a 3D-render and placed some dummies to keep the scale of the actors in the back.
04 April 2008, 11:53 AM
Changed into grayscale and started to render some details.
What do you think about the poses of the two characters?
04 April 2008, 12:37 PM
Nice concept and amazing painting. I like your style . Good luck
04 April 2008, 12:48 PM
Very cool! I love the idea - looks like some bounty hunter or police officer asking questions etc. (judging by his nasty expression I tend toward the bounty hunter).
Great style! This is going to be grand!
04 April 2008, 12:58 PM
It would be so cool, if the silhouette of the holo projection would look exactly like the silhouette of the fleeing character in the background. :)
04 April 2008, 01:03 PM
Thank you all, for the nice replies!
Daniel: You know what? It will ... ;)
04 April 2008, 01:04 PM
Badass police officer. Keep him bald and without any helmet. Maybe put one or two guys with matching uniforms and helmets to show they're from the same unit but he is clearly the leader.
P.S. Also, it would be great if you could keep the main characters close and frontal.
04 April 2008, 03:22 PM
very nice work. the idea with the hologram is very good.
04 April 2008, 06:30 PM
Haha...it is very funny :)
04 April 2008, 12:28 PM
Well another update.
Added a lot of Details to the characters in the foreground and will add more when I start to colour them.
In the moment the right upper corner seems to be a bit empty. I thought of flying tray-bots which deliver drinks to the guests or a bug-like alien that floats around. Or some decorative elements hanging down from the top.
Some suggestions would be nice.
04 April 2008, 12:30 PM
And a close-up of the aliens in the right lower corner.
04 April 2008, 12:40 PM
Hmm, some parts in the images are darker then in the working-file, so the tonal-values don't differ much. I guess the imageviewer "ToyViewer" is responsible for that, where i scaled don't everything. Before I get advices to that point: Keep in mind that it isn't that bad in the original. ;)
Gopez: Thanks for the hints! That was just like i wanted it to be. But what do you mean in the p.s.-part? Do you think they're not frontal enough? I find it's ok that way.
Jorgakis & RuMar: Thank you very much, guys!
04 April 2008, 05:43 PM
Hey Jakob, really original concept, like the "techno noir style" on it, really cool! :D The composition works really great! nice atmosphere for the bar!. For sure looking forward for more updates! Cheers mate !

05 May 2008, 06:47 PM
Muchas Gracias, Fernando!
Pero tengo que trabajar mas. ;)
05 May 2008, 07:37 PM
They sharp parts are more or less finished. Not much time and so much work left, so i have to hurry. Maybe i polish this parts a bit up, when i there is a bit time in the end. But for now it has to be enough.
05 May 2008, 03:48 PM
hey i just found this and i like it a lot ! =)
i am happy that you are here as well and i will follow every step. =)
05 May 2008, 04:17 PM
Really nice rendering on the aprt you've finished! I hope you have enough time to bring the rest to a similar level of polish ('though, of course, the background could stay a bit mroe impressionistic and doesn't need to be as lovingly rendered.) Good luck with the rest!
05 May 2008, 05:40 PM
Wow! very cool...
But, well, the alien is wearing a skirt? :D
05 May 2008, 06:51 PM
A few not completely finished characters.
Oh god ... 3 days.
05 May 2008, 06:57 PM
Huggy: Well, fashion develops ;) You can't know what will happen in future.
By the way: The scotish do wear skirts!
Walrus: Thank you ! I'll give my best in the last days. Good luck to you, too!
Lucy: Also thanks to you!
05 May 2008, 08:30 PM
cool concept the the color pallette-
(and very sci-fi) got that blade runner feel..
good luck til the end. I hope to see the finished image!
05 May 2008, 11:50 AM
Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. I'll be watching the next few days.
05 May 2008, 12:42 PM
This is gonna be great by the looks of it.
I hope you'll finish it in time.
05 May 2008, 01:43 PM
I had problems with the mainguy, but i didn't knew why... a few days ago i found the reason: The legs were screwed in a hardly uncomfortable position. Fixed that.
05 May 2008, 01:53 PM
The whole scene.
I've put another character in front of the main-cop to close that giant gap where nothing happens. And i've pulled the lower part a bit up. I think that works better for an interesting composition.
Now I'm concerned about the scene. After I erased the girl in the back to work on the maincharacters it seems like it would be better and clearer to let her away. Maybe turn the strip-club into an normal bar where the criminals and other scums hang around. It would also fit better with the story.. I think.
Got to go back to work. :)
05 May 2008, 04:27 PM
Nice work! ;)
Hat was von Mass Effect. Deine colorierung ist echt gelungen und wenn du mit den details so weiter machst, wirds echt schwer dieses fast fertige meisterwerk zu toppen. :scream:
Hast nich mehr allzuviel Zeit, also halt dich ran!
05 May 2008, 09:02 AM
Still going on!
Added a lot of details in the last 2 days.
Some close-ups will follow.
05 May 2008, 09:15 AM
05 May 2008, 09:30 AM
05 May 2008, 10:03 AM
Yes yako, go for it!
You still have 1 day and 1 hour left!
And it looks great, keep going!
05 May 2008, 10:48 AM
Wow great close ups. ;)
05 May 2008, 04:01 PM
After i saved this step i found a few spots which I will improve a bit- But this is the almost finished illustration.. no radical changes will happen anymore.
05 May 2008, 04:05 PM
Thanks a lot for your support , Tobi, Phil, XSIEN, ymonkato and RoGreg!
05 May 2008, 04:11 PM
Nice Illustration of the topic. Good luck with finishing! ;)
05 May 2008, 11:34 PM
I wanted to depic a scene in the everyday life sometime in the future.
Everyone does what he thinks is necessary to survive the day.
The officers are searching for an suspect, who has opposed the system in some way. Through informants they got a hint which led them to a den of thieves beyond "Barrio 349" where the long arm of law has lost his strength. The dubious persons out here aren't very cooparative so the officers have to bear down on them to get the hints they need.
I disclaimed on purpose the extreme belief of future. Its not naturally that everyone has the newest gadgets. Not in past, not today ,nor in future. So the only one who has a gimmick is the captain. It's a holodisc which has three-dimensional photographies of suspects. The rest i wanted to keep futuristic, but believable.
I hope you guys like it .
Good luck to all of my combatants! It was a great challenge!
05 May 2008, 11:40 PM
Brilliant image, really cool concept and great character designs
Good luck
05 May 2008, 11:46 PM
I just like looking at your image. It definetely makes your eyes search around. there's quite a lot of details in every corner and each characters (even the extras) seem to be focused in their own world.
awsome work and wish you good luck!
05 May 2008, 11:49 PM
I forgot to say, that in the final steps i added texture from www.cgtextures.com to some parts in the scene.
And some close-ups as usual: =)
Thanks to all who helped me in this challenge, left comments or viewed my topic!
See ya, yakonusuke
05 May 2008, 06:29 PM
I just keep finding new excellent entries... :) This one reminds me of the cantina in Star Wars.
Nice work and congrats :)
